General Thoughts
Starting Off

Ok, so you've probably read some reviews or had some recommendations from a friend and decided to dowload this game, I mean what the hell, its free right? Or maybe you've been playing this game for a while now and just haven't quite got the nack of it; well, whoever you are and wherever you are from, you've ended up coming here and reading this guide, so without further ado lets begin.

There are 3 teams (as the title suggests) in the form of pirates, vikings and good ol' knights. If you're interested in what kicked all of this off then i suggest that you check out http://wiki.pvkii.com/index.php?title=History.

When you select a game from the server list and it eventually finishes loading you'll be given the choice of joining 1 of the 3 teams, auto-assign or spectating the game. Each team has its own unique classes, with pirates currently having 3, vikings having 3 and knights having 2. The idea is that each team will end up with 6 classes, something like TF2.

I dont particularly recommend any team above the others, as with skill (and a bit of luck thrown in) each class is as good as the next. However, if you are new to the game i would probably suggest playing a pirate skirmisher as they are fast (useful for the inevitable retreat) and can spam their main weapon, the cutlass, without needing too much skill in the way of timing hits.

If you dont yet know what buttons do what, I recommend checking out the controls tab in the in-game options. However, I'm gonna assume that you already know these things.

You will usually start off in a safe spawn zone, depending on which map you are playing on. Here you wont be able to attack or block, so you'll need to move out of the area if you want to do any of that (which you WILL be wanting to do).

Interface

At the top left of the screen you might have noticed a large red orb, a blank horizontal bar and 2 vertical bars, one red and the other silver with a red cross and shield below each respectively. The red bar is your health and the silver, your armour. The blank bar is your 'special meter' which fills as you deal damage. As far as I know, the red orb tells you less than a blank canvas, so pay it no attention.

[NOTE] Your health, armour and special meter do not regenerate/degenerate over time.

At the top right of your screen you may or may not see 3 coloured banners/flags with numbers on, representing the number of tickets for each team depending on what game mode you are playing (I'll go more over this in the game mode section). Also the recent events of the game will appear here including kills, deaths, captures and the like, no matter where you are on the battlefield.

In the top centre of the screen there may be a time limit for 'last team standing' games or 3 beige coloured circles below symbols for 'territory' games, or nothing (again I'll go through these more in depth in the game mode section).

If a player activates their mic it will appear at the bottom right of the screen, but sometimes you will only hear them and see this if they are on your team, depending on server settings.

The weapons that you will be using are assigned to the number keys, e.g. the cutlass on a skirmisher is set to 1, his flintlock pistol 2 and his keg 3. So just go through them to familiarise yourself with your tools of destruction. (You can make the switches between weapons faster by going into the advanced settings in the in-game options and funnily enough selecting the "fast weapon switching" box).

Pressing and holding tab will bring up the scoreboard for the current game. Here's an example:

The main section is split into each team with their relative colours, showing you how many times that team has come 1st and 2nd (gold and silver trophies) as well as showing you the number of players per team in brackets, the player list, their score, latency, a voice icon that lets you mute specific players (including chat messages and voice commands) and what classes they are playing, but classes can only be seen for those on the same team as you (yet there is currently a glitch that sometimes makes everyone's class available to you).

I personally never look at the voice section... PLEASE DON'T BAN ME DEVS!

The right hand section is a more personal set of figures allowing you to keep track of your own K/D and other things and mostly speaks for itself (its even got a picture of the character you're playing JUST incase you forgot). The only thing that isn't obvious is kill/assist bonuses which is just when you kill/assist in killing a significant target, like some guy stealing your treasure chest or getting a revenge kill on that pesky critter nemesis of yours.

[NOTE] Healing is currently unavailable as no healing class has been released yet.

At the bottom of the screen you will see a list of the scumbags of the earth, or more likely, AFK players under the guise of 'spectator'.

You can actually hold tab before selecting teams, so you can check who you'll be joining and which teams have been more successful etc..
Basic Gameplay
You Don't Get More Basic Than This

There are 3 pickups in the game - health, armour and ammo. The health is a roasted chicken on a platter, the armour is a steel breastplate and the ammo is a bunch of arrows, javelins, a tomahawk and some shots for the numerous guns that pirates use, all of which float and spin a tad off the ground. Health pickups give health over time but wont be cancelled if you are hit in the mean time; armour gives you an instant increase, as does ammo. Pickups always spawn in the same position, so learn them.

If your health reaches zero then you die, boom, so dont be letting that happen anytime soon. Armour is useful because it absorbs some of the damage from attacks as well as adding hit points to shields (covered more later) and ammo is needed to use any ranged weapon.

When you look at someone, above their head will be their name and a message that roughly tells you how much health they have remaining, something like this:

Message
Health
Not a Scratch
100%
Just a Flesh Wound
<90%
Bleeding Profusely
<50%
Pushin' up the Daisies
<20%

I don't know the exact % for the healths, but this should give you a decent idea.

Melee Combat

When fighting with melee weapons you can usually attack or block in 1 of 4 different directions. The direction of attack is dependent on which direction you are moving when you press the left mouse button, with some directions being easier to hit with or dealing more damage than others. (I'll go further into this later on for more advanced play). Generally it goes like this:

Player Movement
Swing Type
Damage Done
Hit Detection
Left Strafe
Right to Left
Medium
High
Right Strafe
Left to Right
Medium
High
Forward
Overhead
High
Low
Backward
Stab
High
Low

You can also charge your weapon up, dealing more damage for each hit, by clicking and holding the left mouse button. A bar appears at the bottom of the screen that fills as you hold the mouse button. It is at maximum power when the bar is full and the edges go white, but if you hold for too long the bar will go back down, so you wont be at full power. (You can right click mid-attack to cancel a charge).

Most melee weapons can be used to block with, meaning that you take severely reduced damage from incoming attacks, except for ranged and special attacks, so dont even attempt a block on them. Large two-handed weapons block smaller one-handed weapons more effectively than the reverse, so remember people, size does matter.

A "perfect parry" can be achieved if you correctly block in the same direction as an incoming atttack. After performing a perfect parry, you can unleash a counter-attack, which deals maximum damage, is extremely quick and unblockable (so not bad eh?). Two-handed weapons can perfect parry and counter-attack any weapon, but one-handed ones can't if blocking against two-handed weapons.

Shields can be pretty useful for attacking and defending, especially for tackling ranged classes or for disabling a high priority target by bashing them over and over (trust me, I have 1st hand experience). When a shield gets hit, it recieves damage instead of you and so its hit points go down at the bottom right of your screen. If a shield runs out of hit points, it breaks and remains so until repaired by picking up armour pickups. To shield bash, just attack with 'left mouse click' whilst blocking with 'right mouse click'. You can charge shield bashes like any attack, with higher charges knocking back the enemy further or even knocking a chest out of a guy's hands at full charge. Being attacked while you are charging a bash does not lose the shield any hitpoints, but you will take full damage from the attack.

[NOTE] Certain classes have different shield hit points.

Special attacks are attacks unique to a specific class that usually deal a large amount of damage. They can only be performed when the special meter is full. Each is different in damage, range and number of hits, with ranged specials needing ammo.

Jumping is extremely useful in this game and has gotten me out of many a bad situation, so learn to use it to your advantage, especially jump crouching (which is possible and does give a jump height increase).

Ranged Combat

Ranged weapons can be the difference between victory and crushing defeat, so learn how to use them. Aside from the flintlock pistol and blunderbuss, all of the ranged weapons are affected by gravity, but you mainly notice the difference that gravity causes in the bow, crossbow, javelin and tomahawks (throwing axes). Generally, if you are moving whilst shooting the pirate guns, your accuracy is decreased. Oh and the further away you are from the target, the more damage you do.

Some of the ranged weapons deal piercing damage (the Archer's crossbow & Sharpshooter's rifle), which means that they will deal damage to your health and armour even if you are blocking with a shield, albeit severely reduced, as well as damaging the shield's hitpoints as per usual.

Several ranged weapons - usually the more powerful ones - require you to stand still whilst reloading (the Captain's blunderbuss, Sharpshooter's rifle & Archer's crossbow). So try to find a safe place before reloading. If you begin reloading and suddenly want to stop midway for some reason, e.g. if somebody is about to put a blade through your face, then you can stop reloading by changing weapons.

Game Modes
Ok so there's 4 game modes, which are:
  • Trinket Wars (TW for short)
  • Last Team Standing (LTS for short)
  • Territories (TE for short)
  • Booty (BT for short)

Trinket Wars

1 player from each of the 3 teams is randomly selected to start off with their team's unique trinket. This trinket gives bonus health regeneration to the holder and surrounding teammates (more so to the actual trinket carrier). The trinket also increases the carrier's maximum health to 50 more than usual, which can only be reached via the regeneration from the grail, not by eating health pickups.

At the top right of the screen there are 3 tickets (numbers). These tickets represent the number of kills required to win the game for each team, but only kills nearby the team's trinket carrier will count towards your team's score. Once a team's ticket score reaches 0, they win the game.

[NOTE] Kills will not lower your team's tickets without your team's trinket present.

Killing an enemy trinket carrier will raise that team's score by 1 and lower your team's score by 1, as well as providing a health and armour bonus to you and your teammates nearby the death of that enemy carrier.

- Press E to pick up your trinket from the ground.
- Press G to throw the trinket if you are the carrier (recommended if you think you're about to die).

[NOTE] You cannot throw your team's trinket if you are blocking or have been hit in the last few seconds.

If your trinket carrier dies, you will have a limited time to pick up the trinket from the floor before it despawns. Once it despawns, it will randomly select a currently alive player on the correct team to respawn onto. If you are chosen to respawn onto, a circular timer will appear at the bottom of your screen in the centre. If you die before the timer is completed, another player on your team will be selected to spawn onto, resetting the timer, delaying the trinket respawn even further.

[Left to Right] The Viking Horn, The Knight's Holy Grail and The Pirate's Grog.

Learn them.
Skirmisher Gameplay
Ok, so you've picked skirmisher. Your main weapons are speed, laughter and an incredible ability to annoy... but seriously, if you can master skirmy, then you can turn fun-loving happiness in the enemy into one single burning desire to see your bloody corpse laying motionless in the dirt (which makes them play worse muhahaha).

The tools of your trade:
Cutlass* assigned to key 1
Flintlock Pistol assigned to key 2
Suprisingly Robust Keg assigned to key 3
3rd Person
*Weapon needed to perform special

Summary

Your cutlass deals low amounts of damage, in fact it's the same as the Archer's shortsword, but is much faster to swing and charge with. As with all weapons, timing the charge of your attack to output maximum damage is essential, but hitting with uncharged attacks means you can deal damage quickly and then run away before the enemy can hit back.

The flintlock pistol is fairly weak and inaccurate, but you do get a lot of shots without having to do a standstill reload ever. To improve accuracy, stop moving just before you shoot. Useful for pissing off an enemy like a fly that can't be slapped or finishing off a weak enemy without having to run the risk of getting into combat.

Das Keg. This should be considered something very special, especially in LTS (last team standing) games where you only get 1 per round. It dishes out mahoosive damage in an area, which provided you don't throw at shielded players, should give you your entire special or maybe even a few kills. Be careful though, you can damage yourself with your own keg and stun teammates.

Your health and armour are low, but this is more than made up for by being the fastest class in the entire game, so use speed to your advantage at all times... NOT THE DRUG! Dear god i just narrowly avoided a lawsuit.

Tactics

To be successful with any class, your general aim should be to stay alive whatever the cost, but you have to take further steps as a skirmisher to succeed. You need to take as little amount of hits as possible, so backstabbing is generally the way to go. Whiz around the map and find a poor unsuspecting victim to hit in the back once or twice with your cutlass. You don't need to kill them to gain a tactical advantage. In this case you have obviously just reduced the guy's health and armour, but you have also gained damage toward your special as well as distracted him from whatever he was doing before.

Keep moving onto different targets and repeat. Obviously if somebody still has no idea you are there after your quick attack, just keep attacking.

When using the keg, you will need to left click to trigger the fuse and in doing so you'll be defenceless for a couple of seconds before you can throw it. However, you'll want to throw the keg at the last possible second so that anybody in its area of affect won't have a chance to defend/run away from it, giving you maximum damage. The fuse will burn for about another second once it has entered the keg, so try throwing it once you can't see the fuse anymore. Also, try to jump crouch before throwing it, so as to throw it as far away from you as possible. You will walk a lot slower with the keg equipped, so try not to be near people that might attack you when you pull it out.

Your special attack is very powerful and can easily be aquired. A direct hit on weak classes like the Archer and Gestir is usually an instant kill. Although it is a direct lunge forward, you can actually move the mouse after pressing f for about half a second, allowing you to direct your special if the enemy changes position.

With your increased speed you can also successfully make jumps (using jump-crouch) that other classes simply can't do. For example, jumping on the boxes from the ground in tw_desertruin.
Captain Gameplay
Appreciate the Captain. Without him, pirates would just be comprised of cowards and sissies and would be in desperate need of a nerf. He's even got a parrot.

Your companions:
Captain's Cutlass assigned to key 1
Blunderbuss* assigned to key 2
Hook & Parrot assigned to key 3
3rd Person
*Weapon needed to perform special

Summary

The Captain's cutlass is deceptively powerful and has a reasonably long range, so can destroy enemies that think they can casually tank a few hits. Compared to the more powerful weapons in the game, like the HK's two-handed sword, its fast too.

Essentially a shotgun, the blunderbuss deals massive damage to unarmoured opponents at close range. You've only got one shot with it though per reload, so save it for when you're close up. You'll also need to stand still when reloading with it, so as per usual, hide if you're going to reload.

Your hook deals pretty low damage but is fast to swing and charge - only attack with this to humiliate players on "pushin' up the daisies" health or when trying to get the achievement.

Right click to send off your parrot, which will fly off and attack the closest enemy. The parrot deals small amounts of damage with each peck, giving you small amounts of damage towards your special attack. You can right click again to bring back your parrot, provided it can fly directly to you, otherwise it will just get stuck on an object and be easy pickings for somebody and so giving them something toward their own special. If killed, it will respawn in 30 seconds.

With the parrot off your hand, you can also use the hand to punch if you swing the correct direction - which is even more humiliating to kill with.

Pressing f with the blunderbuss equiped will make you load an explosive shot. You can slowly move whilst loading your special, which can be enough to keep you safe from danger.

Tactics

Since the recent Sharpshooter update, your team will need you for defending as well as just dishing out mothertons of damage, what with the other classes having poor health and armour. This means keeping an eye on all your teammates to check if any need your help, so be aware of where and what your pirate pals are doing.

When you've loaded your special, just pull out your cutlass and play like you normally would (basically hiding your special). Then, whenever you see a teamfight going down, whip out the blunderbuss and shoot it into the heart of the enemies, don't worry about teammates, they wont be hurt. Be careful though, the shot has a slow flight through the air and drops slightly with distance.

[NOTE] People can actually see that your special is loaded as fire comes out the end of the blunderbuss, even if it's not equiped and on your back.

When using the blunderbuss normally, only get it out when you are close, otherwise they know that you are trying to shoot them, so you become predictable and they can do whatever they want, like block all of that precious damage with their trusty shield or just run away. Also, try to shoot as fast as possible when you get it out, otherwise they get time to react and again can block it etc..

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::Parrot Peck-niques::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Try not to release your parrot directly at an enemy otherwise it is likely to be hit straight out of the sky. Releasing it to the sides or behind you makes the parrot's path through the air unpredictable, so less likely to be killed and more likely to wreak havoc. Also, try releasing the parrot in the general direction of your desired target (as the parrot will go for the closest target).

The most popular parrot tactic is whereby you allow your parrot to reach its target and letting it attack a couple of times before calling it back, or until you see the enemy charging/swinging his weapon to swat your parrot out of the air. Then simply rinse and repeat. A very annoying tactic if pulled off correctly...
Sharpshooter Gameplay
He says a lot of suprisingly strange things, including some questionable (bordering on masochistic) grunts when being hit. But aside from his quirky lines, he's a pretty formidable opponent, especially at long range.

The Three Amigos
Fancy Dagger assigned to key 1
Artisan's Flintlock Pistol assigned to key 2
Long Rifle* assigned to key 3
3rd Person
*Weapon needed to perform special

Summary

Ok, so you've got a fancy dagger. Let's just leave it at that. NEXT. (It's basically just a worse version of the Beserker's sword and axe combo). Try not to use this if you don't have to.

Your pistol is pretty sweet - it can aim (right click), so accuracy isn't a concern and the damage is pretty high. Along with a decent fire rate and a motherton of ammo for it, you can pretty quickly eliminate pesky Archers and all those other critters.

The rifle can again be accurate and packs a huge punch, hell you can even get headshots with it, but the bullet can move around randomly over large distances so it's anybodies guess how much luck is involved. Reloading causes you to stand still, much like the Archer's crossbow.

Pressing your special button with the rifle equipped pulls out your powder horn which you use as a makeshift grenade. Click and hold left click to charge it up, but remember you've only got 1 shot to use it so try to use the grenade only when you need it. Also don't hold onto it forever... it blows up no matter what after about 8 seconds so you'd better throw it, otherwise you're toast.

Tactics

Being serious about the fancy dagger though, if you need to damage somebody that clearly can't fight you at all (I'm talking chest carriers) then get up to them and hold down the left click. This works especially well if they are desperately trying to run away - they'll think that you'll just be using your ranged weapons, but you will deal much more damage per second (DPS) by constantly hitting them in the back with this.

Your health, armour and speed aren't much to shout about, so try not to get into any brawls. Just stay at the back, shoot and reload, rinse and repeat. When you feel more confident with your ability to kite and survive closer to enemies, being closer is an advantage to you as you're shots will be easier to hit.

Your pistol is what you want to be using most of the time as it doesn't require a standing still reload and has a lot of ammo. I'd recommend using your rifle for longer ranged shots as if you miss them, you can just hide and reload, but if you actually hit them then you may as well have done it with your most powerful weapon as opposed to your less damaging pistol.

As with pretty much every class, using your weapons and special are quite situational. Generally though, try to use your special as soon as possible so that any further damage you dish out is carrying you on your way to the next special and isn't wasted.

I shouldn't need to tell you this but here we go anyway - use your special on large groups of people OR if you're feeling particularly strategic you can use it on the players that you think pose a threat. Using your special on groups is more important with this special as its an explosion, so not limited to the number of hits you can make with it.

Headshots get you bonus damage on people, but they can be hard to get. Bearing in mind that only your main rifle can get headshots, so using this at close range gives you a better chance of hitting the head, so dealing more damage. However, with you being so close you'll probably only get 1 shot off with your main rifle, so it's your call whether or not you need lots of damage quickly and whether you're gonna risk only being able to shoot once.

Basically, just don't end up like this...

Beserker Gameplay
Who needs a shirt when you've got a motherton of rage and beyond ample in the beard deparment? That's right, its the Beserker. He's a good guy really if you get to know him... Rumour has it his family runs a pizza place and apparently, he'll even cut your lawn for you if you ask nicely.

A Nice Collection Of Axes:
Big Axe* assigned to key 1
Sword and Axe* assigned to key 2
3rd Person
*Weapon needed to perform special

Summary
Huscarl Gameplay
A good solid choice for any aspiring vikings. The Huscarl has everything... A heavy hitting axe, a shield to block with, ranged weapons and a pretty sweet special that is easy to acquire and use. He's got reasonable health, armour and speed too! Apparently delivers pizzas in his spare time.

Would you believe it? More axes!
Two-handed Axe assigned to key 1
Sword & Shield* assigned to key 2
Throwing Axes assigned to key 3
3rd Person
*Weapon needed to perform special

Summary
Gestir Gameplay
Gestir has reasonable speed and low(ish) health and armour, but is well-rounded with a long reaching spear to match that of the HK's claymore, a shield to block ranged attacks, a very powerful (yet slightly tricky to use) ranged weapon and a formidable special, making the Gestir very annoying to play against and a good pick if you're a Viking.

Would you believe it? No axes!
Spear* assigned to key 1
Langeseax & Shield assigned to key 2
Javelin assigned to key 3
3rd Person
*Weapon needed to perform special

Summary
Heavy Knight Gameplay
So you've decided to bring the pain and rain death upon your enemies, good choice. The HK is beautifully strong in offense and defence with the disadvantage of being slow at all times (he's constantly being weighed down by all that swagger).

Your Arsenal:
Two-Handed Claymore* assigned to key 1
Sword and Shield assigned to key 2
3rd Person
*Weapon needed to perform special

Summary

Your main weapon instills dread in the enemy, fear in the hearts of men (and parrots) and forces onlookers to provide solid evidence for their double incontinence. That's right, it's your good old trusty claymore. This puppy deals the most damage in the game if charged up to the maximum, as well as having one hell of a reach that'll make even the calmest of enemies rage when being hit by a glitch-worthy attack.

The sword and shield should be used for defensive measures, i.e blocking ranged weapons and kegs. It's only other use is to complete achievements and bash people, which aren't usually as top a priority as whipping their sorry ass into shape with your claymore.

Those layers of armour that you're wearing aren't just for show - you actually have the highest armour in the game. Your health is about average and your speed is pretty much as low as it gets, but hey, who needs health and speed when you can tank damage off onto your armour and hit like a localised nuke?

Tactics

I cannot stress more the importance of charging your weapon at all times. With it being slow to charge and swing, you are going to need to be ready for swinging before the enemy even knows that you exist if you want to succeed.

Having the largest weapon in the game isn't just for show, you can actually perfect parry every other melee weapon with it, so don't be afraid to block as you'll be more successful than usual.

Again, because you are slow, you have to rely on predictions. Guessing where your enemies are and where they think you are correctly helps dramatically.

Try to use your main weapon (2-handed claymore) at all times, so once you're done using the sword and shield for blocking some sort of attack (ranged or explosive), switch back to the claymore. Of course, if the enemy isn't letting up with ranged attacks, then keep up the sword and shield. Keeping your claymore out as much as you can also conceals any idea that you might have your special, so enemies never really know whether you've got it or not, making you unpredictable and so you have the advantage.

Other tactics include those used for all classes, but are more important for the HK as he is desperately slow, for example, lowering your block with the sword and shield between ranged attacks (as there's always a delay between 1 shot and the next), means that you are maximising the speed at which you move (as you move slower when you block).

Basically, movement is key with the HK as he's extremely slow, so learning the maps and cutting corners or jumping over obstacles via crouch-jumping is something you'll want to be doing often to reach those faster enemies.

Other sneaky techniques include using the sword and shield to bash, so stunning your enemy and then quickly whipping out the claymore and unleashing the special asap.

As you don't have any ranged weapon capabilities, you would do wrong to follow ranged enemies blindly.
Archer Gameplay
Playing Archer can be either extremely hard or extremely easy and it's a rare day if it's neither of these. You've got lowish health and armour and nothing to shout about in the speed department, but this is more than made up for by the power of your ranged weaponry. With a little time invested, people will be complaining about aim bots and generally trying to hunt the hell out of you - when you've reached this stage, you know you are pretty good.

Rage Inducing Equipment
Shortsword assigned to key 1
Crossbow assigned to key 2
Longbow* assigned to key 3
3rd Person
*Weapon needed to perform special

Summary

The shortsword is actually pretty good. It deals out the same amount of damage as the Skirmisher's cutlass, but is slower to charge and swing. With good movement and nicely timed attacks, you can more than hold your own in melee situations.

The crossbow is powerful and accurate, but has a small amount of starting ammo (5) and requires a standstill reload between shots. The rounds pierce through shields, dealing significantly less damage, but damage all the same. Bolts also push back enemies and apparently deal more damage when aimed with the right mouse button. Speed is reduced whilst aiming.

The longbow has no aim mode and each shot requires charging. It starts off with 20 arrows and does not need to perform a standstill reload between shots. Charging a shot will slow your movement speed slightly. The special can be held by holding the special button (f or middle mouse) and each flaming arrow will only hit one target.

Tactics
Things Not To Do. Ever.
Unless you are desperately aiming for the purple heart achievement, you might be wise to heed some of these things. Too often do I see people doing random acts of stupidity, so maybe, just maybe this might help...
  • Don't shoot people with shields up. Even in the highly unlikely event that their shield is low on health and only needs 1 more hit, just dont waste the bullet... HIT HIM!
  • Don't think that you can save everyone on your team, because you most likely can't. Too many times I've died trying to save some noob from a horde of enemies, thinking that if they survive, then I'm more likely to win etc. but you are more likely to get pwned along with your pal. An exception to this is if you are in a teamfight where it's not just the 2 of you vs. the entirety of the remaining players...
  • Don't be a fricking DOUCHE that brags about kills or some sort of amazing feat at ALL times, because most likely, the rest of the world will hunt you down like the infested bilge rat that you are.
  • By all that is just on this earth, retain some honour and don't attack afk people unless they are the abolute last player in the game to kill, it's just not right. If you want to go a step further, protect them until they get back, be it with a shield or just cold hard steel.
  • Don't reload ranged weapons near anybody or preferably, don't let an enemy see you reload. (I'm talking about ranged weapons where you have to stand still to reload, like the Archer's crossbow, Sharpshooter's rifle and Captain's blunderbuss).
  • Don't spray the corpses of people you've killed. Killing somebody that annoys you is enough, don't be a nob about it.
Some Tips
When it comes down to it, its the little things that seperate the good from the great. So, here's a few things that I reckon are important.

  • Always be charging your weapon... you never know who's around the corner or just about to pounce on you from behind. Cancel your attack as soon as you aren't fully charged.
  • Check behind you quite often - usually when you are following an unsuspecting victim, you engage combat with them thinking you have an upper hand, but when you get hit smack-plum in the back yourself with a fully charged attack, then you've just started a battle where you're outnumbered and at no advantage.
  • Try to move unpredictably if you think somebody is attacking you, either with melee or with ranged. This includes strafing, jumping and spinning, but not crouching, as this merely lowers your movement speed.
  • Keep moving at all times. Moving enemies are harder to hit with ranged weapons.
  • Stick with teammates. There is always strength in numbers and lone targets are easy pickings.
  • Try to make sure that you land hits at maximum charge, especially with slow weapons like the HK's 2-handed sword. Only use uncharged attacks with fast weapons when you're close to an enemy.
  • Make sure to tick the box in the advanced settings that makes your weapon switches faster (so you only need to hit a number key once to equip it).
  • You don't need to be better than your opponent to kill him. Even the best of the best are susceptable to a hit in the back, so use tactics and manouvre yourself away from large fights to avoid gangrape and kegs.
  • Always jump crouch - If you're going to jump, you might as well make it a jump crouch. You actually gain height and can make a lot of jumps that you otherwise wouldn't be making... One of the most annoying things is when you get caught on a static object in the map, leading to your demise. Also, when dodging ranged attacks, you are moving your hitbox as much as possible with a jump crouch, making yourself harder to hit.
  • Know when you're beaten. If you think you're going to lose a fight, dont stick around. If you've got teammates near you, you've got to make the call whether or not you think you can beat the enemy if you stick together. Likelyhood is, they aren't good enough to play as a team, so you're only killing yourself and your team's chances of winning along with you when you jump right back into the mix trying to save their worthless asses.
  • Look for losing teammates. If you're gonna win, you have better chances with teammates that are alive. With your teammate on the back foot, the enemy is pretty focused with finishing them off and gaining themselves a free kill, so sweep in there unsuspected and unleash as much damage as you can on the enemy before they realise you are there. This can save your teammate and gives your team a much needed advantage.
  • Protect teammates that have specials. If your friend is about to load or pop off a special, you're enemies won't be wanting him to do that any time soon (if they have any sense) so they will try to kill them/prevent them from loading their special. Some of the specials I'm talking about are the Captain's explosive shot, the Sharpshooter's grenade and the Archer's fire arrows, all of which prevent the user from doing much while loading, preparing and holding their specials respectively. So, protect these teammates whilst they prepare and use their specials, for the good of the team.
  • You've got some choices when it comes to using specials. Either you use it on a large group of enemies for maximum damage or you go the tactical route and use it solely on the players that pose a threat to your victory. Preferably you should combine both of these methods.

The Table of Pro Players
An alphabetically ordered list of all the good players that I can think of/have met in PVK. Including which classes they play best as (or in some cases, just 'play as') and what clan they are in, if any.

I can't remember most of this stuff, but whats important is the name - these guys are good players! I'll dash anything I don't know or can't remember.

This table will never be complete. As I remember people, I shall add them.
