Map and Ellipse

I couldn't draw the ellipse on the map by following the instructions of Sherlock Holmes or, even, by browsing the videos or images published on the web. A technical glitch?!
So I checked the questions on this matter, posted here on Steam and on the web, and I came out with the following:
Put the Pencil on the red spot and draw the ellipse as presented on the screenshot.

It worked for me. I hope it works for you.

thanks it works. I suspect it's something to do with playing in widescreen resolutions

oh my god you are a dear for this. i was going insane trying to figure it out and thought i softlocked the game. and then i was horrified because of how far my last save was in terms of progress. this is. im way too tired to be playing this game rn anyways. you are wonderful.
