Introduction: Life is Strange

Life is Strange is one of the best games I've ever played in this current generation. It's a episodic, coming-of-age, adventure game with time-manipulative powers that you can decide whether to undo/redo the choices you've made in a specific scenario.

Aand what makes this game so special is that this game really tackles about the taboo topics that the other games doesn't usually grasp. Like bullying, suicide, depression, scandals and other things that are based on a real life scenario.

And despite of the game's dark topic, the game also has some bright humors after all. And as we continue on playing, we've witnessed the moments that make us laugh, cry and sorrow until the final episode of the game.

Of course, it might be no-sweat to just mess around like what other guys/girls do when it comes to Life is Strange. But when it comes to people who played Life is Strange in a serious matter without any knowledge what will happen next, it's a different and heartwarming experience.
What is Depression?
According to psychiatry.org, a Depression is a common but serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. Fortunately, it is also treatable. Depression causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease a person’s ability to function at work and at home.

Depression symptoms can vary from mild to severe and can include:

  • Feeling sad or having a depressed mood
  • Loss of interest or pleasure in activities once enjoyed
  • Changes in appetite — weight loss or gain unrelated to dieting
  • Trouble sleeping or sleeping too much
  • Loss of energy or increased fatigue
  • Increase in purposeless physical activity (e.g., hand-wringing or pacing) or slowed movements and speech (actions observable by others)
  • Feeling worthless or guilty
  • Difficulty thinking, concentrating or making decisions
  • Thoughts of death or suicide

If you ever feel hopeless... There's still hope and here's how.
Things to do during the Post Life is Strange Depression
So, as you're done playing the game and you still keep thinking about it. What are the things you're going to do after that?

Actually, there are many ways to do with it. I know Life is Strange sometimes being a b***h sometimes whenever you still keep thinking about the game. Including the outcome, the choices you've done, and the songs they've used there and how this affects your well being. If you still on to it, don't worry, that means you've learned a valuable lessons as you play the game. And here are some ways to overcome it during the recovery phase:

  • Make a Journal.
Try to write things down on a journal. It doesn't cost much if you want to buy some or just look for an old notebook, add some decorations with it and there you have it! You've done your very first achievement! Now you can write with it about how Life is Strange changes your well being, how's life doing, friends, families, etc.. Record everything you've done so far and write it in your notebook. :) Trust me, it works. Until you suddenly fell asleep on how dramatic or happy the moments were in that particular day as you write it on your journal.

  • Bond with Anyone you love.
No man is an Island, dude. Bond with your friends, and family. Spend time with your fellow buddies, talk about the problems you're currently having and let them help you. You can also invite them to do something like going into the movies, visit the park and others. Live life to the fullest man! Life's too short to be sad and lonely.

  • Read a bunch of Fan-fictions to satisfy your LiS sadness.
TheGouldenWay on DevianArt[thegouldenway.deviantart.com] has you covered if you want to look for some sarcastic, satire comedy about Life is Strange -- playfully titled as "Life is Deranged". Aside from that, there are also other fanfics you can see on the net. So, go read those bunch of stuffs. Just... look for a comedic one if you still can't handle the sadness of the game itself.

  • Listen to other songs from the artists featured on the game
Like "Spanish Sahara" by Foals? Go listen to some of their songs from Foals. Like "2 Trees", "Total Life Forever", "Out of the Woods" among others. If you also like the works of Syd Matthers, Jose Gonzalez, Agnus and Julia Stone, and others. Go listen to them, who knows, maybe the hidden gems you'd find there might be valuable to you. And don't forget to support them! :)

  • Join the /r/LifeIsStrange on... reddit of course!
You can share anything you feel about Life is Strange. Feel appreciated and you're always welcome into the world of the Life is Strange subreddit. Share your thoughts, feelings, and even your fan-art of your favorite character in Life is Strange to make you feel better. :) Trust me, the comments you're about to receive there will help you and keep coming back for more.

  • Do something for distraction!
Can't help thinking about the game makes it worst if you don't do anything about it. Maybe you should cleanup your workspace there. Do your homework if you had one, watch a movie (Best movie you should watch to is The Secret Life of Walter Mitty)[www.imdb.com], play games, clean your room, wash the dishes, or maybe spend time with yourself by reading books, go to the park, etc.. As Shia LaBeouf once said:
Any small step is important as it helps you and it's a good move. ^_^

  • Bond with your dog
Pets, especially dogs, are protective against loneliness. So bond with your Dog. It's a Man's best friend. If you haven't get a dog, adopt one. It's a best way to feel happy and spend time with you. Dogs can also feels your depression you know? They can help you cheer you up if you're a good Master of course. It may take some time, but have a little patience or call a help if you need to.
My finals thoughts for you.
Life is Strange is -- by far -- the best game I've ever played in my entire life. And if you feel depressed by this one and how silly it is that you're crying something that is completely fictional, there's no problem with that. It means you have human emotions and you're a one tough fighter. It's normal to cry, but things will get better as we move on and treasure every memories of it -- good or bad -- and let it be your guide and lesson and keep moving forward. And trust me, you're doing great on what you're doing to overcome your sadness and sorrow. And if you need help, don't be afraid to ask for it. There's nothing to be ashamed of.

I hope this guide helps you... And conclude this guide, play the song below and turn on the captions. This song is also featured on Life is Strange. It's called "Crosses" by Jose Gonzalez.

I hope you have a great day and I hope you'd overcome the challenges you might face in the future. FIGHT! :)

Hi Hachiman Hikigaya, THank you for this guide. I just signed up to tell you that I watched the recommend movie by you together with my wife. We both love it! So funny, so indie. It is easy to understand why you recommended it. Also, I found myself downloading a journal app and start a diary like Chloe and Max did today. My dog, well.. I was already bonding with her everyday. Peace and love!

I couldn't believe such a thing called Life is Strange post-game depression until I read articles about it repeatedly, And I was shocked when I found out I had it, for I believed I had been a rational person for years. I was like Max; we had a strong empathy for others and got hurt by watching others' pain, even if it was Victoria. And Max tries so hard to save Chloe because she blames herself for Chloy's suffering and decides to protect Chole forever; she even feels sorry for Nathan when she receives his final message(the expression depicts her emotion). Max is purely kind according to the story created by the developers, And I could feel what Max thinks so that I could make choices from Max's perspective, thanks to the grand narrative.

But the ending... no matter what I chose, Max would fall into a permanent self-blame. I believe I got stuck there; I got stuck in Max, who is facing the choices ... I could NOT bear the implication that Max would live in remorse for the rest of her life just because of her kindness. It is ferocious for developers to create such a kind soul and eventually put it into such torment; it was so painful for me.

The "Sacrifice Chole" ending is so buggy (according to the theories offered by the game ) that it can barely stand. I can't believe developers use such a lousy ending. For this matter, I hate those developers; they hurt us for hurting us. I don't think the two endings are optimal choices; they are just put there to make the video game the top of the discussion.

Glad this wasn't one of those joke posts that just says, "Don't be depressed". This guide actually is good for regular depression as well as Life is Strange depression.

I made a comment on reddit and the thing was: Give a title of a video game that describes your life." I said: "Life is Strange." I got most of my karma from that post.

jez, I played this game back in 2015-2016 few times and i remember how empty i was after 1st playthrough so I keep playing it more and more and keep getting emotional over and over
and after 5 years while browsing playstation library i found a life is strange, and for some reason i thought it was a good idea to replay this game again, yea...

like you know in last 2 month i finished 9 books, whole King's dark tower series and i didn't even feel empty or emotional, even with questionable ending of series, but this 15 hours game is just killing me, not depressed, but super emotional. Kinda hate it, kinda love it.

27 years old and story with characters still kickin me, should say something about devs, or me...

I hate finishing anything amazing, like a good book, video game, or tv series. It means I have to return to real life and try to face my depression again
