Understanding the Sinners
Understanding the Sinners

So this here is your average sinner and as you can see there is alot here to process so im going to break it down for you all.
Dirtiness

So in this section you can see that there are black clouds around our sinner. This indicates that the sinner is in fact dirty and needs to be cleaned, If you do not clean the sinners before sorting them you will end up with a chance of lower quality ingredients when you process them.Remember wash your sinners because noone likes a dity tater.
Bounties

The Send to God button next to the sinner indicates that you have an option to send the sinner to a god in order for rewards. Gods every day issue a different bounty for a sinner for you to find.
CAUTION: Be very carefull you do not send the wrong sinner to the god
If you do end up sending the wrong sinner to the god you will be penalized alot of favor and you will not be able to send another sinner again, meaning you will also lose out on Favor and Starch for you to use. An example of a penalty would be:
Hight, Weight and Age

These 3 above represent Hight, Weight and Age respectivly. These are ways to sort a sinner that come latter in the game. Think of these as secondary stats, they are relevent but not as important as compared to the 4 catagory of sins they commit. These will mostly be used to sort into spice machines if you can not find a way to fit them into processing stations.
Sin Score

These Here are the Big 4 as I call them. These are the most important thing to sort sinners by as this will determine what ingredients you will get from them. Every sinner will have a randomized score of sins for you to see and sort them by. What you sort them into will rely heavily on this score given to them. If you have a machines that want Malice (Blue) in a certain range you need to cross check it
with the score of the sinner to see where to put him. It gets quite hard early to remember these but after a while you just do the sorting like clockwork without thinking.
Heaven

This one is quite simple, If the sinners score is less then 200 you can press that button to send him to heaven. If you do that you can get a small boost to favor, but be carefull in that if you send someone that is guilty i.e a score > 200 you will get a pentalty to favor, so always double check before sending someone to heaven. Remeber that this is optional, if you chose to sort the sinner into a station instead you can do that and not be penalized anything for it. This is sometimes the best course of action as the extra ingredient is worth more that that bit of favor.
Understanding the Stations
In the game there are 8 types of stations. These can be cut up into 2 different types.
  • Ingredient Stations (Fried,Boiled,Mashed,Baked)
  • Spice Stations (Salt,Pepper,Honey,Chili)
Ingredient stations rely on the sinners score they come with in order to determine what you get.
Spice stations on the other hand rely on the the sinners Hight,Weight or Age to determine it.

One important differences between these is that the ingredient stations can give you one of 3 different results based on which sinner you put in as compared to spice stations which give you one spice so long as it fits the requirment.
Perks and Bonuses

For the most part every station will have a perk and bonus attached to them. These are very important to aim for if not always fulfill, for these will make or break your game based on if you do them or not. So for the example above if we have someone with a Pride of above 20 we have a chance to get an epic ingredient but have 100% chance to get pepper. If we had a sinner have below a pride of 20 go into the machine we would not be able to get a chance of an epic ingredient and we would miss out on the guaranteed chance of a pepper. If we do not fulfill those bonuses the highest rank of ingredient we could get from such a station would be "Good" and worse case would be "Okay". Be very carefull in sending unwashed sinners to these stations as even if you fill in the perk bonus you have a chance of getting a lower quality ingredient, so that "Epic" Quality would turn into "Good" Quality based on if you washed the sinner or not.

Note:The Bonus 100% is not effected by the Sinner being washed or not, only the first part of the perk that gives you the quality.
The Gods and You!
The Gods are a funny bunch of spuds in this game, they come from alot of different backgrounds but they are all united in one thing, they love canibilizing the other potatos. That's where you come in! You are a chef in hell and have been chosen to help run a restaurant in order to serve the gods.
The gods want meals from you it is your job to make sure your food is up to par with what the gods want.

Gods have an important role to play in that you need them to get to the other circles of hell. Every shift you will have a set objective to do.
  • Earn and Keep X Amount Favor!
  • Fulfill X Orders!
These will be the 2 types of missions you will get.

Favor:Favor is earned by fulfilling the gods orders, The faster and better quality the food you serve them the better the Favor! It can also be aquired by sending innocent sinners to heaven and correctly giving a god the sinner they are hunting for.

Favor can then be used to upgrade the stations and facilites of your kitchen to get better quality ingredients and learn new dishes! Remember you don't want a god to ask you for a dish you can't make! That would be embarassing.

The more dishes you give the gods the more XP you can get from them. Every god has his own special rewards for leveling up, while they might seem minute for now they do add up. So the faster you level up the easier the game gets.

Note: Gods Max out at level 10
Cooking your way out of hell.
So when you start your shift in hell you will have 3 phases you will have to worry about.
These are
  • Prep Time
  • Lunch Time
  • Dinner Time

How you manage your time in these 3 phases will make or break you in What The Hell.

Prep Time:
This to me is the most important part to master in What The Hell, If you don't prep well you wont do well. During this time you will want to do things in a certain order so you can maxamize your time.

  1. Precook your Dishes!(This is very important as you can use this time to make dishes as a buffer)
  2. Upgrade Your Stations(See if you can afford any upgraded stations with favor)
  3. Sort Your Sinners(Try and maximize bonuses)
  4. Repair Your Stations!(If you have stations that are idle go ahead and repair them so they dont break during the Lunch and Dinner hours!)

To add onto precooking your dishes always maxamize the amount of dishes you can make so you can use them as emergency baily rations if needed

Lunch and Dinner Time:
This is where things start to get hectic for you. Gods are asking for orders left and right and you only have 2 stoves to cook with, so managing who you give what to is important. Remember that you have 3 days per shift to complete your task so you shouldn't feel the need to get as much as you can done in one day. Try spacing out the amount of things you get done, If you precook the meals you can give them to the gods towards the end of the lunch/dinner special and just use the time to get ingredients and cook food for the next day.

When chosing to serve i have a priority i made that made the task much easier to manage
  • Serve the gods asking for a single peice of specific food (i.e He wants 1 Tater Tot with a rank of D+)
  • Serve the gods asking for a single peice of generic food (i.e He wants 1 dish with a rank of D+)(Try to use the lowest common ingredient food to achive this dish)
  • Serve the gods asking for >2 of any food, (Specific>Generic)

You can serve the gods toward the end of a shift without penalty, If you are really about to fail to deliver a dish you have 1 of 2 options

Give them a couple bailys to increase patience or get them blackout drunk. If they are blackout drunk they forget what the order and you dont lose any favor!
Cook Offs!

Here you will be tested to the best ability of your culinary skills! Before you are able to ascend to the next circle of hell you will be challenged to the best hell can offer. This means the opposing side is not messing around and this will be quite hard.

In these contests there are 3 judges that you will have to impress, All of these judges have their own tastes and prefrences, for the most part they will almost always disagree on 1 or 2 ingredient so it will be really hard to impress then but don't you worry. While these are things to consider you should prioratize these things to select a dish to cook during the challenge.

  • The number/quality of igredients of the dish.
(These are important as the higher rank food and more ingredients will mean a greater score)
  • Is the dish better served as a lunch dish or dinner dish?
(If you ever wondered what those sun/moon icons ment next to a dish Sun=Lunch, Moon=Dinner Sun/Moon = Both)
  • Whats the least you can displease them.
(Sometimes it is better to sacrifice 1 judge to get 10 with 2)

Now that you have chosen a dish to serve to the judges now comes the time to cook, While the contestent you are facing has advanced dishes you do not yet know you do have a secret weapon.

THE FLYING BACONATOR!

This Flying Baconator is your secret weapon against those pesky chefs, When he flys down you can click on him to attack you or your opponent! If he is facing left when he flys down he will attack you and knock your points down... thats a big nono, When he starts facing right is when you want to click him. Since the flying emergency ration goes into the same position over time you can hover your mouse curser over it and click it when he lines up with your opponent. If done fast enough you can get about 5-6 score downs on your opponent. Now this may seem like cheating but alls fair in hell.

IMPORTANT: To make this easier make a save before you end your final section in your circle of hell, if you lose and want to start over and you did not quick save you will have to do the entire day over!

Yep, For things like salt peper sugar and spice how clean they are doesnt matter as they dont get a score. They are always the same.

You don't need to clean for secondary ingredients, right?
