Notepad + + and You!
If you are going to use this guide you will need to know how to change objects and sprites with Notepad ++, Many other guides tell you how to use Notepad ++ so here is a summary:

In the level.obj of a Floor (located in Documents/My Games/ Hotline Miami 2/ Levels/ Single/ Whatever level here) whenever you place down an object it creates:

A Sprite Number
The Direction It Is Facing
An Object/Behaviour Number
Frame Number

The format of an item will always be like that, you will want to change the Sprite Number and Object Number, The Frame Number is to allow you to change the current frame of the object (if it has more than 1 frame). You can tweak the direction if you please to change how it faces, If you put a -1 for the sprite number this means it will be an effect or something that changes the overall environment such as (-1, 1182) which gives the Camera from the levels of Nicke/Beard

Here are the sprites and object IDs, you will need them!

I also highly recommend looking at Yossarian The Assarian's Guides and robracer97 & mvfoleh's Video Tutorials on the Level Editor as they have helped me and many others in how to edit levels!

Changing Items To Doors!
So now that you know how to Notepad ++, it is time to actually change things, first of all you will want to place down an object in the game that you would like to change, I usually use the VASE STAND object (229, 121) to change.

Once you have it, change its Sprite IDs and its Object IDs to the desired Door and boom! That simple!

Some door has a Vertical and Horizontal version, Some have a Mirrored version (I will label the Horizontal or Vertical with H or V and the Mirrored Versions with 2 at the end)

They do work on enemies like the standard doors, that should be good to know :3
Wardrobe Doors (243, 129) V
The Wardrobe Doors seen ONCE in the entire game! It is only seen in the MIDNIGHT ANIMAL PILOT on the second floor in the last room, it was there for cosmetics for the wardrobe and looks nice to boot!

This only has a vertical version however this can be changed VIA changing the direction of it.
Cell Doors: (1594, 952) H, (3624, 2102) V
The Cell Doors from Release, Perfect for a Prison level or a Basement setting! They have a horizontal and vertical but no Mirrored version

Attic Doors (1778, 1069) H, (1777, 1068) V
The Attic Doors that seemed to have been made to be used for the level Moving Up but unfortunately were never used!

They, Of course, Fit attics for levels or more, They are the thinnest out of all of the doors in the game.
Son/Steel Doors: (2065, 1202) H1, (2066, 1203) H2
The Doors from the Intros and Outros containing The Son, The Henchman and Manny Pardeau, They can easily fit in many levels for safe houses, eccentric buildings and much more!

However they only have Horizontal Versions to start as however this can be changed VIA changing the direction of it.
Creating a Locked Door
Now here is a harder part, you will need to go into the level.wll file of your level to do this, place down a wall you would like to change, I use the "Soft"/Yellow walls (97, 33) V, (98, 34) H, as they are usually compatible with most things to do with sprite replacement, Their IDs go like so:

Sprite Number
X Axis Number
Y Axis Number
Object/Behaviour Number

We want to change only the Sprite Number this time, Replace the sprite number of the soft wall with the Door you wish to make a Locked Door and that's it! You will have a locked door!
BONUS: MOVIE WALLS! (270, 152) U, (272, 153) R, (273, 154) L, (271, 155) D

You know you want to use them! Well they function as an Obj file that has 4 different sides!!!

They function exactly like the walls in the Story mode and have 2 frames, one with 2 spikes and one with 1 spike! Have fun making the most kick-ass film of the century!

Luckily, We've got the edges now so AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA YESSSSSSSSSSS!
The End!
That's All for the list, there is only 4 extra doors in the entire game of Hotline Miami 2 however with this you can make much better doors for settings without having to change the original's Door Sprites!

Have fun using these Doors!!!

It is very hard to get it right but it's doable!

You should check in the file location I said in the Notepad ++ section in your Documents Folder. If it's not there, Check where your game is in Steam and it may have it. You'll find your custom levels in folders that you'll have to figure out which is which. Once you do, You'll find a level.obj file that you can use Notepad++ on it.

It is confusing so I get why you'd be confused. This is literally modifying the game's code and what objects it renders in that level after all, It's something the community found out because the devs were too lazy to finish the editor and because of that it's the only way to get things that normally wouldn't be available.

You pretty much just find and replace the Sprite ID and Object ID of the object you're changing with the Sprite ID and Object ID of the Door and done
CH4VK 19 Jun, 2021 @ 11:30am
so i basically just find, and replace the number 2 times?
