Ever wish cities were a bit more dynamic? That the cities you conquered felt like they were a part of your empire now? Then this mod is for you!

Rosetta - Dynamic City Names changes cities' names according to their owner. It also prevents duplicate names from showing up in the same game (ex. Eboracum/York).

Rosetta is completely modular and will work no matter what mods or DLCs you have enabled. Mod compatibility is ongoing at this time, but many of the most popular mods already have support built into Rosetta.

Rosetta is also designed to work alongside my other mod, Improved City Names, which is highly recommended for adding a greater variety of names into the mix.

Of course, not every city will have a name in each language, but with over 250,000 names for over 10,000 different cities in Rosetta's database, there's a good chance you'll see quite a few changes over the course of your game.

For a list of mods with Rosetta Support, please check the 'Change Notes' tab above, and if you run across a typo or a name that's missing or not changing properly, please leave a comment in the discussion section titled "Typos and Bugs" and I'll try and get it fixed for the next update.

Can it be made so the name change isn't immediately but over the course of X turns, or in the next era?

To be perfectly honest, this is my favorite Civ mod of all time. I've only been playing since Civ 4, but this just makes the game so immersive and also teaches some small bits of language in an entertaining way. Bravo!

This is a really good mod and a lot of fun! I'm guessing that civilizations that never met each other (like Rome and Maya) do not have any interactions? Or did you extrapolate from naming conventions of the different civs?

I guess then the other city name mods I had installed screwed with the working of your mod.

I've noticed an issue, though; the mod also works on City State names, but ONLY the name on the map; in the City State list and reports and such, the City State name remains the old/original name.

I don't know if the game allows those names to be changed as well; if not, maybe make the mod not function on City States?

is this the mod that's turning Hong Kong into Heung Keung?

@younesmegou12 - May just be bad luck with cities that either don't have Mongolian translations or that have Mongol names that are the same as English (London in Mongolian is London).

@3D Master - It's fully automatic! The renaming triggers when a city is settled and when a city changes ownership

@DerCcent - unfortunately not, but you skimming through the ModLocalization or Backups files should indicate whether a civ is supported

I don't really understand, I'v been playing with this mod a lot and, as the Mongols, just invaded all of England, only to have one city change its name (Nottingham to Nottingkhem). Is there a random chance that the names change? Or is London incompatible with Mongolia?
3D Master 26.10.2024 klo 11.58
How does it work? Is it just complete automatic? Or can I click somewhere and tell the mod to change the city's name?
DerCcent 3.9.2024 klo 6.09
is there a list of which modded civs are compatible? I´ve encountered some that are and some that are nor

Many of the city states gets a really messed up name that does not also show up in the city state envoy windows. I have not really much difference otherwise.
