The Plowshare: a Galactic research cruiser

Beskrivning
The Plowshare is a scientific research cruiser. Using the near-limitless power provided by the Cyclo-modal Corruption Reactor, a crew of 12 has all they need for laboratory, greenhouse, and field study of local plants and animals. (29,579, 55x46x51)

A long description of the ship, with many screenshots, can be found in this forum post. The Plowshare was submitted for Cosmo-Chizzard’s Blueprint Competition in October, 2017. You can visit the ship and check it out in this Adventure[sharing.creativersegame.com].

The Plowshare collection includes some utility blueprints for fast seed planting in the lab.

Build Notes

This blueprint uses 29,600 blocks of 82 different types. (The screenshots show 83, but Dirt ended up on there twice. Looks like plowed Dirt gets counted separately from just plain dirt.) The largest usage is in Galactic Hull (9,262), Galactic Floor (3,638), and Galactic Hull Slope (2,764). The blueprint calls out 936 Mineral water, but note that the majority of that can be seeded with four blocks at the top of each standpipe, which then flows down through much of the rest of the system. Remember that holding shift will let you place single blocks of water - auto-fill does not work well with liquids.

Block phasers: A blueprint will not show blocks that are phased out, so I had to turn everything on. Once you have the block phasers for the inspection hatches in place and working, you can change the switch logic to operate properly off one switch.

This build uses blocks from the Galactic and Industrial sets, but requires no other premium blueprint sets.

Installation Notes

The cornerstone sits below one of the main airlocks. A scaffold print is available to help you precisely place the ship blueprint, provide ladder access to the build, and get the Plowshare build hints started for flood fill.

The blueprint is 55 blocks deep, 46 blocks wide, and 51 blocks high. The main hull is a 46-block diameter sphere, and the docking platforms extend further from front and back.

Thank you, ThePilgrim! If you played a role-playing game called Traveler back in the day, you might see this as an evolution of a mercenary transport called The Broadsword. (That's where the name Plowshare came from, since this is a scientific research vessel, not a ship of war.) I found some deep nerdiness there, but I really like the shape.

The shape of Plowshare is so cool. It reminds me of something that I can't quite put my finger on. But WOW. Love the additional items in the workshop like the scaffold and the planting matrix's too. Great Build!

You did a really good job of thinking about the builders in this. I love how you even included a scaffold. Very thoughtful! The build is really nice too. Thank you for sharing it.

Wow, that's a super-cool shape! And the inside is well-made with so many details too :) I love the cross-section screenshots made with capture blocks. Oh, and hi, Cosmo-Chizzard!
