(UPDATE: It looks as though the game is now fixed, I'll leave this guide up anyway just incase someone may need it)

This guide should help the majority of people get their game running. If after following this guide you are still having issues then please contact the developers.

How To Fix The Game

Step 1 - Black Screen Fix

First try playing the game, if you are able to get to the main menu skip to step 2.

To fix the black screen:

Go to your game directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dungeon Souls)
Right click on DungeonSouls.exe, click the Compatibility tab, click "Run this program in compatibility mode for", select Windows 7 in the dropdown menu, click Apply then OK.

Step 2 - Creating Configuration.ini File

Start the game, at the main menu, click Start, Single Player, Revive. If the game doesn't work or shows an error screen then go to step 3.

Step 3 - Fix Configuration.ini File

Go to %localappdata%\DungeonSouls or (C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\DungeonSouls)
Do you see a "configuration.ini" file? If not go back to step 2.

Open the "configuration.ini" file (In Notepad, Notepad++, or similar)
In Notepad press Ctrl+A to select everything and then delete it. Copy the text below EXACTLY and paste it into your configuration.ini file, save it, then go back to step 2. If this doesn't work try the alternative text.
