[Guide] Basic animation in Source Filmmaker
By Capt Fuzzy
Here is a video guide demonstrating some very basic animation techniques using the motion editor and graph editor.
This is geared mainly toward people who are new to animating in SFM, if you are already an experienced animator, this probably won't help you any.
This guide will NOT be of much help to those who don't, at least, have a working knowledge of how to manipulate models in SFM.
You should know basic posing before attempting to animate in SFM.

Some Info...
I did this guide in such a way as to both explain and show someone just like you how to do it.
It is geared toward people new to SFM and animation in general and NOT toward people who already have a 'higher level' of understanding of animation...
I purposely left out a lot of the 'technical jargon' that you've probably heard in the Valve Official Tutorials, afterall, you probably didn't understand half of it anyway.., I know I didn't when I was first starting out with SFM.
The Guide

As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free, I will reply as soon as I possibly can...

I've been manually animating everything, but I'll certainly take a look at this. Anything to help make the process easier! I've favorited it to watch later.

I'll check it out, thank you!

Yes, that is most likely the reason.
There is a puppet script for SFM that allows you to add sequences to models that don't have them natively, as this one appears to be, but you have to read the instructions carefully.
It does have some limitations.
I believe that it's called 'Doc/Revzin's Puppet Script'.

Thank you so much for posting this. I did have a question, I have a community model loaded in and when I go to load sequences there is only Idle there and nothing else. Is this because the model didn't come with sequences?

@Моreiraλ - Oh, so he's one of those types?
The ones who take their frustrations out on people who have nothing to do with the actual issue?
Got it, he's a bully...

You are very welcome, I'm glad you found my guide useful.
You'll get better at it the more you practice, just don't push yourself too hard, you don't want to get 'burned out'. Good luck. :steamhappy:
