Heat Signature Tips and Tricks: Die Less, Kill More
By Sunset Sullivan
The Basics of Gameplay
In Heat Signature, you board ships in order to raid them. While the game does have a tutorial, it can be limited in the important things it teaches you. This guide goes a little more in-depth than that, and will teach you some important tips to keep in mind during gameplay.

Using and Abusing Pause
When you pause, the game is frozen indefinetely. Use this time to plan your moves: you 3v1 a room if you have the patience to plan it out, so use pause a huge amount. Important note: YOU CAN SHOOT SOMEONE, USE A MELEE WEAPON, AND USE A GADGET ALL AT THE SAME TIME. They have their own individual cooldowns.

Hijacking other Ships
You can fly a ship if you've cleared it out. Right-clicking while steering the ship will fire it's guns. Do this enough, and the ship you're fighting will be shot to pieces. This is especially helpful if you have an assassination target, as they'll be killed in the explosions that tear the ship apart.

Auto-Tracking and Fast Forward
At any time aboard a ship, you can press middle-click on a room and your character will auto-path there. This means that you won't have to manually hike back to your pod while extracting your target. At any time, while in space or on a ship, you can press F to fast forward the game by 6 times. This allows you to traverse the cosmos much quicker as well as causing opportunities to rear themselves quicker.

Let Enemies Come to You
If there's a bunch of enemies in the room with you, don't be afraid to wait a bit and pick them off individually. Oftentimes, enemies will branch off from their groups and into one of the close-by rooms. Take this opportunity and strike.

Assassination Tips
If your asassination target is armored and you lack grenades, or shielded but don't have a subverter or crasher, fret not: for there is such a thing as windows. Shooting windows or fuel storages will decompress the room and blow it up respectively. Enemies cannot survive in the vastness of space, and even if they have a shield on they will eventually suffocate.

This guide is a work in progress, and suggestions in the comments are greatly appreciated.

Long time since this was actice, but crashing a telepad stops further reinforcements from arriving. Subverting a telepad means anyone who uses it gets flung into space. With a little work, you can sneak in, then trigger an alarm by shooting a gun, and have your capture/assassinate target fling themselves into the void. Just don't forget to pick them up.

If you have a melee weapon, you can 1 v 3 in most of cases: here is what you do: knock down someone, pause, teleport his weapon to you, throw your wrench to another person, use the weapon you just got from the 1st target on the 3rd target. But remember to consider flying time of your weapons. Sometimes, you'll have enough time to have weapon cool down to go off, which makes 1 v 5 with single melee weapon to start possible.

You can throw melee weapons and teleport them back after stabbing somebody, meaning that you can kill 3 people almost instantly.

I love how the devs, In response to us picking off crew one by one, made them panic and look around when they notice someone is missing for too long

The tip about using enemy ships came in handy... Been trying to figure out how to get past 2 trackers nearby landing. Didn't had to anymore, just shashed it to pieces... Thanks.

Gun-kata is totally possible as long as you have multiple guns: shoot, pause, swap weapon, shoot again. Repeat as necessary until surrounded by corpses

When using the Glitch Trap, remember not to space the only guy carrying the key you need...

One must have piece of gear is a Self-Charging Glitch Trap.

Use the button to drop and HOLD it as you drag the arrow to the destination you want.
Drag the arrow outside the hull and you automatically drop the target into hard vacuum.

Best thing about this tactic is that shields and armor don't mean jack against it.
It also won't set off explosive enemies.
Heat Sensor enemies don't pick it up, and it allows you to eliminate them without being within their area of detection.

Just remember to pick it up before you abandon the ship.
