Yikes your complaints about bg2 are some of the dumbest things I have ever heard.

the reason why bg2 was done like that was because it was a pioneer of the genre, and the devs didn't figure out yet that average player is stupid and wants to be spoonfed.

One of the reasons gaming seems like it will never be the same, and it makes me feel old, like I'm the one who changed when really, the problem is that game producers have become less artists and more big business. The number of things you could miss in BG2 are the reason I've played it 4-5 times. Don't give me all the content on a silver platter. I don't want a big quest arrow telling me where to go. The reason I didn't finish the last Dragon Age was the everything was too obvious, I was just grinding each area and thinking about nothing but the combat.

Nailed it. A lot of dialogue choices are only available when you charm the npcs also. Like in Baldur's Gate 1.. you can charm certain main npc quest characters to have them reveal their plans. Sadly most of the newer games are just continuously dumbing down games for idiots until they are so simple, linear, and devoid of any creative thought that they are boring.
