Quick basic tutorial

Quick tutorial: Extract tool to any folder, and copy for example Man_Trivial packages (or any other) from Brutal Legend/Win/Packs folder to tool folder.

Windows 7:
Hold Shift and Right Click anywhere in the folder and click Open Command Window Here.

Windows 10:
If you clear out the directory bar in File Explorer and type in cmd it will open a command window in the folder you have open.

Type in:
DoubleFineTool -u Man_Trivial.~h

Edit the files inside the folder by copy paste/renaming it for simple replacements of things such as materials/outfits, or edit them directly with Notepad+ (or another text program)
When you're done messing with the files, type in:
DoubleFineTool -p Man_Trivial

Once that's done, copy both Man_Trivial packages to your Brutal Legend/Win/Packs folder, and see the changes in game.

Note: Dont keep Package backups in the Brutal Legend/Win/Packs folder, the game might use them instead.

Extra: To get around file size limitations of file types that aren't .proto or .lua scripts (basically anything in the Man_Trivial package), grab another file of bigger size, paste the contents of the one file you're working on (if using Notepad+, don't copy things like NUL at beginning and end of the file), Save As, (make sure it's set to all types .) and type out the full name of the file (or select the one you want to replace).

Easier to just modify 2 out of 3 factions to have lower costs/build times rather than running the game 4 times :P

In some of the bigger packages. But since it would take ages to unpack and repack afterwards, I'd recommend using Texmod.

By the way, since you're playing the game, I'd recommend trying it out with a nifty program I discovered call "Nucleus Coop." It's basically a program that allows you to play multiplayer games with a pseudo splitscreen created by opening a game multiple times and connecting the instances together. And it's compatible with Brutal Legend. I usually use it to open four instances and leave 3 afk to do 1v4 ai matches.
