The reason Invisible War crashes between map loads is because the engine doesn't like working with more than one core. I've heard all sorts of "fixes" to the crashes, from disabling your sound card to closing your browser to exiting your antivirus. Of course none of these work. You got to assign the game to a single core.

I recommend installing the Visible Upgrade patch mod, which automatically does this: http://www.moddb.com/mods/deus-ex-2-visible-upgrade

But you can also do it manually, and it's super easy.


Locate Invisible War in your library. Then right-click it and pick "Properties" from the drop-down menu, like this:




In the first tab of the Properties menu that pops up, click on "Set launch options".




Type this in the box:

-affinity 1

Then press "OK".




That's it! The game should run fine now! :)
