Firth of Clyde

Just west of Glasgow in Scotland, is the beating heart of the industrial revolution in Europe.

Since the early 1800's, Cotton was imported here from the americas and processed on large scale in steam powered cotton mills.

After the hot blast process for smeling iron was revolutionised by James Beaumont Neilson, the Scottish iron industry flourished and made Scotland the centre for engineering, shipbuilding and the production of locomotives.

Glasgow became known as the second city of the British Empire.

The villages, cities and industries represent the area fairly accurate.

To make things accurate you can build a railroad from Bowling, along the north bank of the clyde to hellensburgh, with a junction in Dumbarton to follow the river Leven to Balloch.

Paisley is the railway hub for a line, via Bishopton following the south bank, stopping at all towns and terminating in skelmorlie.

Another track runs between the highlands of the Glennifer braes in the south, and the Clyde-Muirshiel in the north to the Lochwinnoch valley.

There are several ferries, Gourock to Kilcreggan, Ardgowan to Dunoon, Largs to Cumbrae island (Millport). and there is the Waverley Paddle steamer that that is still going strong on a scheduled service since 1946.

in 1971 you can sell the Erskine ferry when you build the mighty Erskine bridge.

Of course you don't have to follow the historical pattern, perhaps you can show a better way to connect the areas :)

I find this map works best without automatic roads generation and a mod to increase forrests. But that is all optional.
