After the discovery of a lost human colony on the very edge of the reach of the Astronomican who welcomed the arrival of there long lost brethern they learned that the planet was once inhabited by one of the lost Primarchs who after sensing the rise of Chaos caused by the Horus Herasy began construction of an Astronomican Relay to connect with the emperor and join the battle. He later left for unknown reasons but construction continued and was completed. Now the Imperium have been gifted with the ability to travel further through the galaxy and a second reference point in the warp. Naturally this is not something the other races want them to have.
