Winchester Model 1897 Trench Gun

An improvement over the Model 1893 shotgun, the Model 1897 went on to become one of the most famous shotguns in the world, being used in both world wars. In 1917, the modified Trench Gun version was created, featuring a heat shield and bayonet lug. The weapon was incredibly effective in trench conditions, which even led to the Germans protesting it's use due to the horrible injuries it caused. Despite this, it remained in US Army use until after WW2.
