General controls
These controls apply thorough the game ie. in editors and battle.
Note that the game does not register commands from key bindings when the mouse cursor is over an UI (User Interface) element.
Many controls are also rebindable and thus can be found from the settings menu. The bindings can also be seen from tooltips of UI buttons that perform the same action.

Mouse left button
Click or click and drag to select items.

Mouse right button
Place selected ships or press and drag to create a formation.

Mouse wheel
Zoom in or out. Hold and move the mouse to pan the view. Panning and zoom are rebindable.

Left Ctrl key
Hold to add to selection instead of replacing the selection.

Left Alt key
Hold to remove from selection instead of replacing the selection.
Battle controls
These controls apply in the battle. Note that battle deployment phase controls are similar to those in editors.

Ship selections
Use left mouse click or click and drag to select ships. This can be combined with left Alt and Ctrl keys to modify the selection.
You can also modify the ship selection by clicking on the fleet listing at the left side of the screen.

Movement orders
Use right mouse to give movement orders. Clicking on empty space will use default formation.
Drag with right mouse to set formation direction. Combine dragging with left Shift and Alt keys held to modify the formation.
Set heading lock towards current cursor position on selected ships by pressing the 4th mouse button (X1). The lock can be cleared with backspace.

Attack orders
Right click over an enemy ship to give your ships an attack order.
Right click over an enemy ship that is already targeted by your selected ships to set or remove module targets.
Hold the left Shift key and drag with left mouse button over enemy ships to give your selected ships an order to attack all of them.

Camera controls
Toggle following of one of your ships by pressing f The camera will start following the selected ship.
To have the camera follow any active object (such as an enemy ship, missile or projectile) move your mouse cursor over it and press F12. You can then press f to stop following that object.

Holding the tab key displays active commands for all of your ships.
Ship editor controls
The ship editor can be accessed by going to "Fleet & ship editor" from the main menu, adding a ship from the ship browser and then either double clicking on the ship or selecting it and clicking the edit ship button on the bottom toolbar.

Adding modules
  • Select a module from the module browser or hold the tab key and click on a existing module to copy it.
  • Click with left mouse on a grid cell with a white dot to add a module or click over an existing module to replace it. Modules can be added quickly by holding and dragging with left mouse.
  • To rotate your "cursor module", press q or e.
  • To stop placing modules, click with right mouse.

Removing modules
Select the modules you want to remove using left mouse and press the delete key.

Undo and redo
Ship editor supports limited undo and redo for module changes.
  • To undo last change, press left Ctrl + z
  • To redo previously undone change, press left Ctrl + y

Moving modules
Select the modules you want to move, then drag them around with left mouse.
To copy modules instead of moving them, drag them and then hold left Ctrl when releasing the left mouse button.

Mirror tool
The mirror tool can be used to replace one side of your ship with a mirrored copy of the other. It works along any vertical or horizontal axis.
  • Open the mirror tool dialog window from the bottom toolbar.
  • Select mirror direction by pressing one of the direction buttons. Note the visual mirror axis that crosses your ship and labels that show names of the half-planes.
  • Place the mirror axis by either typing the position or using the spinner buttons to move it.
  • Press the mirror button to perform the operation.
  • To undo a mirror operation press left Ctrl + z or use the undo button in the bottom toolbar.

Saving your ship designs
Ship designs can be saved as blueprints (recommended) or in a fleet. Ship designs can be saved in fleets without having to modify blueprints, but saving the ship as a blueprint adds it to the ship blueprint browser and allows using it in all game modes. If you don't save your design to a blueprint, using the rebuild command will permanently discard your changes!

To save design changes to an existing blueprint:
  • Exit the ship editor by either double clicking outside the ship or pressing the X button on the bottom toolbar.
  • Click save.
  • Click confirm.

To save you ship design as a new blueprint or overwrite an existing blueprint:
  • Exit the ship editor by either double clicking outside the ship or pressing the X button on the bottom toolbar.
  • Click save as.
  • Click "new" button to indicate that you want to create a new blueprint, or click on a blueprint from the list to select it for overwriting.
  • Fill in the blueprint information.
  • Click save.
  • Click confirm.

To save you ship design in a fleet:
  • Exit the ship editor by either double clicking outside the ship or pressing the X button on the bottom toolbar.
  • Click confirm.
  • Open the actions tab on the top toolbar.
  • Click save fleet as.
  • Type in the fleet name and click save.
Battle editor controls
Most of the battle editor controls are the same as in the fleet editor. In addition, the battle editor allows placing, moving and scaling asteroids.

Creating asteroids
  • Create a new asteroid by pressing the "Create asteroid" button in the UI. This creates a random asteroid of certain size at the center of the view.
  • You can select and move one asteroid at a time by clicking over it with left mouse and dragging.
  • To rotate an asteroid, select it and then hold right mouse and move the mouse around the asteroid.
  • To scale an asteroid, select it and then hold left alt and right mouse while moving the mouse closer or further from the asteroid's center point.

Setting asteroid's motion
  • To change an asteroid's in-game velocity, select it and then hold left shift and left mouse while moving the cursor over the asteroid. The movement of the mouse adds velocity to the same direction. The set velocity is visualized by a growing red line drawn from the center of the asteroid when it is selected. The speed at which the line grows is same as the velocity of the asteroid in-game.
  • To change an asteroid's rotation speed and direction, select it and then hold left shift and right mouse while moving the cursor around the asteroid. The angular movement around the asteroid adds rotation speed to that direction when the mouse button is released. The set rotation speed is visualized by movement of a white line (like a clock hand) from the asteroid's center to its radius.

Note that the resulting movement and rotation speed of large asteroids in-game can differ from the visualization in the editor due to some accuracy issues with calculations within the physics engine. This is a bug yet to be resolved.
