Report a translation problem
The actual model file are called .d3dmeshes and they are stored in (filename)_txmesh.ttarch2. These files are what the .props refer to and they come in multiple files. their are multiple meshes typically per prop (e.g. different bodyparts of characters)
Their textures are stored in the .d3dtx format
(they are not directly swappable without an additional converter, else the game will crash)
by swapping those d3d files, you effectively avoid breaking the game and softlocking it.
