Fresh Spawn
Once you spawn in the game, you have a choice to spawn between EastReach, Heathclyffe, and Raincourt. It doesn't matter which place you spawn other than EastReach is to the east, Heathclyffe is central, and Raincourt is to the west.

So first off what you're gonna want to do is right off the bat is pick up the small stones you find on the ground along with the sticks, herbs, and rune crystals which are small blue glowing stones This grants you a bit of xp. A neat trick at the expense of the game looking good is, if you turn your foliage density all the way down to low, you will be able to see all of the items you may pickup on the ground. This is VERY helpful early on.After you spammed a bunch of stuff and got leveled up once or twice, pick the path in the skill tree you would like to go by pressing K, and get the weapon that you want. Once you have that keep farming until you hit level 5. You can get a lot of exp by turning the wood you have collected into parchment and yellow pine into cloth for 75 and 50 exp respectfully. If you keep getting overwhelmed in the spawn areas, I would use the Staff of the Forest and unlock the Fireball Spell. The Fireball Spell attacks as an AOE attack so I'd aim it at the ground if you're shooting something on land.

EDIT: If you unlock Stone Head Axe and spam craft them, it will give you 200xp per stone head axe crafted. It costs 2 stone and 4 wood, very good method to level up quickly.
Level 5-10
Once you're level 5 now you're going to want to unlock Extract in the spell tree by pressing K and then spending 2 knowledge points. Once you unlocked the spell you need to bind the spell to your weapon by pressing P and opening your spellbook to bind spells. After that, start harvesting a LOT of wood since you'll need it. I suggest making a huge wooden platform and build walls since you get 100xp for placing a wall. This is the fastest way to level 10 so far. Another good method is Extracting the Trees and just crafting a bunch of parchment, which gives 75xp each and only costs 2 wood, you'll also obtain herbs to craft potions and cloth.

If you are in need of alot of potions, you collect the basic herbs from extracting a tree. This will give you ghost orchid for mana pots and crowberries for health potions. You'll also collect white line for cloth. This will help you get herbs while building a wooden base since you'll get a ton of resources for creating potions for use later.
Levels 10-30 | Super Grindy
Congratulations you have unlocked Pacify spell (Taming Animals) as well as your first broomstick! So you're going to want to learn the broomstick right off the bat since it can pretty much take you anywhere, considering you have enough mana. I recommend bringing tons of mana vials in flight since they are needed alot in this game. With Pacify you can pretty much tame any animal in the game, but the time you have it is varied based on your level. unless you place soul binding scrolls in their inventory, which can increase the time you have them. It's not really hard to tame in this game and you can easily get a dragon. If you have enough mana potions on deck you could fly on broomstick while pacifying the dragon. If you eventually tame the dragon, you can fly with it once you have put a Saddle on it, unlocked at level 15 and pressing F will launch the dragon in the air.

WARNING: If you are AFK on a mount in the safezone, players can damage your mount and if you are on the mount it can kill you.

Now you have to start focusing on your next big goal in the game, this is going to be a bit of a grind to level up now since the XP required to level up is exponential. I would recommend going to any cave on the map because the easiest way to level up now, assuming you have level 10 gear and weapon. This is not going to be easy, and you're going to need some friends and/or a LOT of mana potions. This is why when you can craft Potent Mana Vials, it's good because you will use them fighting in the caverns, as well as gaining 125 XP for crafting them. After you have hit at least level 20 or higher, it's time to take on a really dangerous cave. This cave will have a ton of Pyrants, which are leveled between 50-60 and have 20k-22k HP. They offer a lot of experience if taken down solo, if taken down with friends, XP is divided. Also the cave will have a couple Flying Black Dragons, and Demonic Imps. These caves are the Caves of Athol Bor. They are south of the Volcano in the near center of the map.

Another good cave for XP is the Crystal Caves which are southwest of the Venturer's Refuge Fast Travel, but any cave shall suffice if you grind for the level. Another Boring/Super Grindy way to level up is once you hit level 20, you can unlock the Stone Foundations/Walls recipe and upgrade your base from wooden to stone. This will make it likely harder to be raided since health is now 58k HP per stone wall. You roughly gain 130-150 experience for building a stone floor/wall.

This is where you can find the Caves of Athol Bor
Level 30+
So you've finally hit level 30, huh? Good, now it's time to get serious. Grab a bunch of mana and half as many health potions, a health regen necklace, a mana regen ring, and an item to fly with (I prefer Flight of the Architect for the reduced mana cost) and head on over to the Caves of Athol Bor. For my set up I used a staff/gauntlet combo with Necrosis and Purify on the gauntlets and Shadow Blast and Lightning Storm on the staff. For the Pyrants I just used Necrosis and LS then used Purify. Recast Necrosis and LS when needed. The demonic imps I killed with just Necrosis and Purify. Now the Black Dragons that are flying seem hard but you can fly up to them and use Shadow Blast to send them to the ground and lose half their health from the fall. Now the enemies respawn at 6am and 6pm game time so try to clear the cave before then. This is the best EXP that I have found so far and I've used it from level 20 to 51 so far and I will probably use this method all the way to 60.
Extraction XP Rates
Wooden Logs/Sticks on ground > 4xp/s
Trees > 6xp/s
Stone > 7xp/s
Rune Crystal > 10xp/s
Precious Stone > 11xp/s
Giant Mushrooms > 12xp/s

I'd recommend if you want to, just go around extracting all of the giant mushrooms so you can get fastest xp/s and then you'll have the mushrooms needed for health pots.

EDIT: If you are wearing a Primitive Magic Ring, or any mana regen ring. Then when you Extract, you will never need to use mana potions as your mana will be regenerating while you're Extracting.

EDIT: It seems that how fast you extract depends on your damage so if you want to extract and get resources faster I would suggest putting some attribute points into damage. At high levels when your damage is around 300 you can extract trees, boulders and giant rune crystals in under 5 seconds.

This is what a Precious Stone Ore Looks like, Found on top of most mountains with a tint of red glow. These boulders give iron ore, gold ore, and precious stones on top of regular stones.
