It's good not to harp too much on MB/s vs mbps, though, especially when many people coming here are wondering why their usually-fast download speeds are randomly suddenly very low. And bad on Valve for locking the thread about the 11.7 cap...
but I'VE TRIED everything even fresh wipes of steam and it won't download as of recent
I had this issue last month and it magically went away after two days. it is back again and has been for 5 days now
nothing I mean nothing is fixing it
can't download updates or games, access my profile or store nothing is loading
1. Run Command Prompt as admin.
2. Type
mklink /J “D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\downloading” “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\downloading”
Replace D: with your HDD and C: with your SSD.
This links D: to C: so Steam caches faster on your SSD.
This is not in the guide, but it worked for me. I found it on Reddit.
ps. To keep your cache data, close Steam and stop its processes. Move the “downloads” folder to a temporary place and delete the original. Link the new cache location and copy the folder back. Restart Steam to resume your download/install.
