Survive the apocalypse with a whole new level of realism!
The Sanity Mod for Project Zomboid brings mental health into the equation, adding layers of complexity to your survival experience. Whether you're playing solo or with others, this mod challenges you to balance both physical and mental well-being. With overhauled features and improvements, it's the most immersive Sanity mod yet for Build 42.



New Features in BETA Build 42

  • CDDA-Inspired Sanity Scenario: A challenge mode for hardcore survivalists.
  • Dirtyness Impacts Sanity: Keep clean or suffer the mental consequences.
  • Expanded Stat Integration: New stats now influence sanity:
    1. Infection
    2. Sickness
    3. Temperature
    4. Morale
    5. Fear
    6. Discomfort

  • Reduced Sanity Regeneration: Bad stats now prevent faster recovery, even during sleep.
  • Bug Fixes and Code Optimization: Long-standing bugs fixed for smoother gameplay, plus a cleaner and more efficient mod.




Key Features of the Sanity Mod (B41 and B42)

  • Dynamic Sanity System:
    1. Hunger, Thirst, Fatigue, and Stress affect your character’s Sanity.
    2. Mental multipliers like Pain, Panic, and Health influence how quickly sanity changes.
    3. Dirtyness now adds to the stress and decreases your Sanity.

  • Behavioral Reactions to Sanity Loss:
    1. As your sanity depletes, your character will exhibit behaviors such as mumbling, shaking, and erratic actions.

  • Customizable Settings:
    1. Set thresholds for sanity degradation and frequency of insane actions in the sandbox settings.
    2. Adjust the speed of insanity progression to tailor your gameplay.

  • Expanded Stat Influence on Sanity:
    1. New additions like Infection, Sickness, and Temperature now impact mental health.
    2. Morale and Fear are critical to keeping your sanity in check.

  • Less Sanity Regeneration with Bad Stats: If your stats drop too low, you will recover sanity at a slower rate, even during sleep.
  • Optimized Overlay Display: The mod is fully compatible with 1920x1080 resolution, and overlays are clearly visible, helping you track your mental state.




Tips for Managing Sanity

Strategies for maintaining your mental health in the apocalypse:
  • Monitor Core Stats: Keep your Hunger, Thirst, and Fatigue in check to prevent negative effects on your sanity.
  • Manage Mental Stressors:
    1. Pain, Panic, and Fear are key contributors to insanity—manage them as best as you can.
    2. Stay clean to avoid the sanity-depleting effects of dirt and filth.

  • Engage in Sanity-Boosting Activities:
    1. Rest, Exercise, and Read to recover lost sanity.
    2. Perform tasks that boost morale and lower stress.

  • Sleep Carefully: Keep an eye on your stats before sleeping—low morale and health will make sanity recovery slower.

Mod is actually working fine for me in B42.11 but sometimes it can be a bit unbalanced and annoying.

For example, when your character is doing an insanity-induced action, the animation keeps playing and never stops, which doesn't allow you to equip/unequip items. The animation can be stopped if you right-click-> shove, but it can be annoying to have to do so.

The mod is an excellent idea but needs polishing, I'd love if we could have a mod that only added the auditory and visual hallucinations without your character doing random stuff.

This looks like the most badass mod ive seen for PZ in a while. I'll install it when I see the endless errors are fixed. That being said.... I fucking beg you; You should add a multiplayer feature where if someone kills another person/multiple people, that person goes insane. It'd help servers have more robbing rather than just KOS pvp.

Idea: If the Immersive suicide mod is enabled when your charecter has lost all their sanity for a long time a crying sound will play and a couple minutes later if your charecter has a gun with ammo or bleach they will end themselves for a more realistic experience of the potential effects of when one's mental state is completely ruined.

Just an idea though :)

Hello, I'm just here to report somthing that could maybe help to upgrade the mode.
I have 2 fractured foot (bug, I fall from the 3rd floor because the ground didn't load up after the new update, nice) and since then, because of the pain even with pain killer, my sanity is at the lowest and because of that I mutilate myself every second... so not a bug or anything like that, but ... it's hard to play like that (even sleeping is...impossible...) so... could you add a med or anything to prevent this king of soft locks ?
Amazing mod by the way, it's heartbreaking to play without it.

The concept is really cool, but there are problems, at least with the translation into Russian, where there are question marks instead of letters. Please fix this if possible.
