Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition
Fantastic RTS remaster with new customization features
Really worth playing!

Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is a genuine remastered version from one of the best strategy video games of the Age of Empires saga. This updated version features new civilizations, enhanced visuals, new customizable content, new game modes and an enhanced but faithful soundtrack.

Gameplay: Great RTS with the most innovative features from the Age of Empires Saga.
Multiplayer: Overall funny and competitive experience.
Art and visuals: Excellent graphics with enhanced textures and great visual effects.
Music and sound effects: Cleaner soundtrack and sound effects.
Achievements: Lots of achievements and some of them require DLCs.

Gameplay
Age of Empires III always stood out since its release in 2005 with its new game mechanics such as the Deck-building for each civilization, this feature allowed players to perform new strategies and it radically changed the gameplay. This new version added new cards for the Metropoly of each nation, and it also continues with the customization mechanic and even expands it including new customizable content for the Metropolis and explorers.

This remastered version includes new units for each nation improving the uniqueness within every civilization. Personally I find this feature so relevant because it finally makes gameplay more special and exclusive with each nation.

Multiplayer
The new multiplayer mode fixed the old problem of leveling up the Metropolis to get new cards for your decks. Thanks to this you can play in a more flexible way choosing the cards you need. This mode is more competitive than ever due to the current multiplayer community and the introduction of new civilizations, cards and units for each nation.

Art and visuals
This remastered version has the best graphics in the entire Age of Empires saga. There is a huge level of detail in every game model, the textures of units, buildings and assets are clean and very compelling. I really appreciate the level of work the developers put into the new graphics and models for this version.

Music and Sound Effects
I truly appreciate the decision of the developers on keeping the original soundtrack. Of course they enhanced some music arrangements but they kept the game’s musical identity. The soundtrack is now cleaner and features some great and subtle arrangements. The sound effects are also enhanced and now they feature exclusive quotes for the new introduced civilizations.

Additional notes
This remastered version changed many things from the original campaigns and gameplay. These changes served to hide a part of the context of many historical events inside the game such as the colonialism, the native genocide and slavery, unfortunately. They also changed some stereotypical elements from the original while adding new ones. The introduction of new Metropoli cards with the representative food of each nation is somewhat silly, they could have included cards with a more historic or military background instead of a basic research of each country cuisine.

Finally, I’m well aware of the current situation on the cancellation of the new DLC. It’s simply unfortunate. I really expected more from Microsoft and World's Edge. That’s everything I have to say.
