I bought this game because it seemed like a fun casual cooperative game I could play with my friends. If that's your impression of the game too, then you're completely right.

Deep Rock Galactic is a game that will last you a long, long time. It has a ton of content on its own, but like any other cooperative game, its lifespan is enhanced all the more due to the fact you can play with your friends. The large amount of added content due to the free updates that have come throughout the years is great on its own, but where you game truly shines is in its procedurally generated terrain. There are eight different mission types (with a ninth on the way as I type this,) ten different locations, three levels of cave complexity, three levels of cave length, and twenty-one mission modifiers (with more on the way) all to ensure that no two mission are the same. Add to that the fact that you can have up to three different players, and different builds of your own, and it takes an incredibly long time to get bored of the game.

You might be thinking to yourself, "But I don't have any friends to play with!" First off, I'm sorry for you. But second, there's still hope for you my lonely and possibly depressed friend. The community in DRG is incredibly nice. The game strongly encourages team play, by ensuring that every player gets the exact same reward at the end of a mission, and providing bonuses to every player when more dwarves return from a mission alive. Because of this, the DRG community has become exceptionally accepting of players old and new, allowing even friend-deprived losers like me to enjoy the game.

If your the kind of player who enjoys perfectly tweaking your build to be as efficient as possible, you're in luck because this game offers a large amount of upgrades and weapon modifiers to allow you to fully personalize your weapon to your liking, alongside a detailed and expansive wikipedia so you can get the hard numbers on any gear or enemy to allow you to fully perfect your build. Conversely, if your the type of player who loves to make your weapons totally awesome, there's plenty of upgrades for that too. From a literal nuclear bomb, to a death laser that literally disintegrates whatever it hits, to a high-velocity tungsten ball that causes any flaming enemy to explode in a firestorm of gore and death. The options are practically limitless.

Now I will say, I strongly recommend against getting this game for solo play. Although it has features for solo, the game truly shines when playing in online, and it's pretty obvious that the intended way to play the game is in solo. Your character will even talk to absolutely nobody in solo play, like he has schizophrenia or something. I previously mentioned that the game has an awesome community, so just try playing online and see how you like it.

I'll now just make a bullet-point list of fun features in the game. On their own these features are small, but there a lot of them so I figured I would mention them:

• Difficulty selection on a scale of 1-5 so that you can play your way. (sixth, even more customizable difficulty level coming soon.)

• Fully customizable hair, including hairstyle, sideburns, eyebrows, mustaches, and of course, beards. So you can give your dwarf the luxurious mane you've always dreamed of having.

• Fully stocked bar ready to serve you up a pint both before a mission in preparation for the hell you're going to endure, and after a mission as a celebration for (most of) your buddies making it back alive.

• Minigame in the bar where you try to kick a barrel into a flaming explosive hoop, while your friends stand in front of you and try to block it because they enjoy your misery.

Flappy Bird Jetty Boot

• Cosmetics that you find hidden within missions.

• Many fun easter eggs to find around the lobby.

• Drunkness feature for drinking too much at the bar. Drunkness carries over into missions, so for an extra dose of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with your friends, try going into a mission with swaying double-vision, and stumbling around everywhere like some sort of drunken moron. (oh wait)

• Easy to use pinging system for communicating with your allies at the click of a button, even in the middle of a massive swarm of enemies.

There's much more I'd like to talk about, but hopefully this managed to convince you to buy the game and find those for yourself. I poured my heart into this review, and cannot recommend this game enough. The cost is a mere $15, but I've gotten over $100 worth of enjoyment from it. Hopefully your willing to pay such a small price for one of the best gaming experiences of your life.

Rock and Stone, and I hope to see you in-game.
