1. There are no known bugs of this nature, and I'm surprised you've encountered this after 70h of playing. If you're playing the game without mods, please see the next point:
2. Are you doing a shunting job? They show the final cargo destination on the overview, but it's not the destination where the shunting takes place. It lists the location where the cargo would eventually lead to (completing the shunting job creates a freight haul job to the final destination). If you look closely at the step-by-step pages of the job booklet, they will point you to tracks within the same station you accepted the job in. Please double-check the job steps in the booklet.
3. You don't need to spend $5k to remove a train car to cancel a job. Jobs can be cancelled by being thrown in trash bins which can be found in all station offices. This is written on the job itself. We'll make it a little clearer in the next update.
