I'd recommend this if you have a craving for something scary but don't want to spend any money. It's kinda jank, I didn't find the story all that compelling, and the backtracking section was a slog to get through, but at the very least it's free and I never had issues with bugs or anything of the sort. It's made decently enough. I can't expect absolute peak from something that cost me nothing.

But I have to say I did like very much that this is a survival horror a la Silent Hill but in first-person. I think there should be more of those. And I have a soft spot for GoldSrc/Source engine games

I came across this game from a YT video of all the animations from committing self-die. I was intrigued, looked it up, downloaded it, and fell in love with it. I'll never forget that October morning when what I'd gotten myself into dawned on me - that this wasn't a power fantasy akin to COD Zombies. Quickly I realized I had to make every shot, every swing count; that one wrong turn in direction and luck could easily result in death - that committing suicide in this game had a purpose. Hope in this game is like love. You cling to it even though you're not quite sure it's there. The world is dying, the future outlook is grim, the human race's numbers are only thinning - and it makes for such a gritty experience.

Poetic waxing aside, this game is good fun. There isn't as much to it as I first thought there was, so I wouldn't say you should be worried about being overwhelmed. Get something to hit stuff with if you can't find a gun and ammo for it, and just go where the compass tells you (with C!!!! I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO REMIND PEOPLE OF THIS!!!!!!!!!!). Darwin will take care of the rest. Also, be cooperative. Play the objective, cover your teammates, share your supplies. No one likes a mf that refuses to pull their weight.

For what it was back in the day, it's very good. The story can be compelling at a few points and the possibilities for the engine (my fav part was the bombing airstrike screen with the dead soldier guy next to it) are fun, but modern shooters can run laps around this game. Fun for the gameplay although if you're not that experienced of a g a m e r you might be saving often bc this game can be unforgiving

Short and sweet. Great humor, fun gameplay, intriguing worldbuilding.
