To me, Dead Space 2 is the definitive Dead Space experience for both old and new fans. Great story, good multiplayer, Masterpiece of a game.

Following his nightmarish encounter three years ago on the USG Ishimura, former engineer Isaac Clarke arrives on the Sprawl, a civilian space station built on the remains of Saturn's moon, Titan, which was broken into pieces in a planet-cracking operation. Here a new Necromorph outbreak begins. Isaac witnesses the panic that overtakes the station from the start. Throughout the story, Ellie Langford helps us with our dementia caused by the Marker, as Isaac sees hallucinations of Nicole Brennan, who killed herself three years ago on the Ishimura.

The shift towards action yielded an incredible story, unforgettable set pieces, and frightening scares. I still think about that train sequence in Chapter 2/3 to this day. So action-packed, but still centered on survival, something its follow-up, Dead Space 3, sorely lacked, as it shifted too much into the action route. Nonetheless, you will get a kick out of DS2, even if you aren't part of the survival horror crowd, like me!

The multiplayer has great gameplay and concept behind it. It's basically Left 4 Dead Versus campaign, completing several objectives to reach the end by the T.S.S.F. (Titan Station Security Force, basically Isaac Clarke x 4), whilst being stopped by the enemy team, the Necromorphs. If you're playing on the Necromorphs, you must stop the T.S.S.F. from completing their goals. You can customize your suit, and the weapons you spawn with for the T.S.S.F., but not for the Necromorphs, for they instead have variety. You can play as one of four kinds of Necromorphs: the Puker, the Lurker, the Spitter, and the Pack. They spawn in air vents similar to the Necromorphs in singleplayer. Other computer-controlled Necromorphs will assist the players. All these Necromorph kinds are different in their own way (again, like L4D), possessing different abilities like puking, shooting needles, spitting at long ranges, and swarming the enemy in hordes. I've only played the multiplayer on PS3, as I couldn't get it to work on Steam (an issue I think everyone has), but it was still super fun for me, so I bet if it's alive, it still would be for me.

I haven't played it, but I hope the Severed side story and all other DLC get included in the remake, if EA decides to make one. The Dead Space remake is doing numbers, and thank god it got a remake. I think the PC version of that one is the most outdated and incompatible, same with DS2 (and DS3 to some extent). I think if we support the remake more, Dead Space 2, which in my opinion is the greatest Dead Space game, EA might consider remaking DS2. Lots of people, including myself, got introduced to the greatness of Dead Space through the remake, and I think EA sees that, too. I believe even more people will become fans of Dead Space if they do a remake of DS2 including its multiplayer.

TLDR: Dead Space 2 is a great game, and I hope EA remakes it.
