I never purchased the first MLP game because it of the many critiques against it. I am happy to say that this game is a night and day improvement above the former. The gameplay is more interesting and diverse, even if it is still simple enough for a younger audience to enjoy. The music and dialogue are wonderful; I was laughing plenty of times during the story. Being able to customize the ponies you play with, as well as the Crystal Brighthouse, are both wonderful additions. The mini games were a fun challenge to beat on the highest difficulties (my one complaint there is that I didn't realize I unlocked special cosmetics by doing so!). The side quests after the main game are a bit confusing if you don't have a good approach, which is why I have written a Steam guide on the subject. There is a fair amount of content in this game. There are some small bugs and oddities, but most of these are funny if anything and not game-breaking. I did purchase the game during a Steam sale, but I would say it was worth it at that price (20% off I think). This world is just so much better thought out and it feels lived in. I am excited to see what the future may hold for this game franchise. My hat is off to you for making a better game than the first!

I can understand the choice to not have graphics settings, but it would be something to consider for a sequel.

And can someone please send help to the pony who keeps asking for a selfie with Pipp? His mother hasn't seen him in two weeks and she's really worried.

I give it an appreciative 8/10

Early Access Review
This is an absolutely phenomenal game for those who enjoy the format. The balance of skill and luck makes it feel like you are truly fighting against a competent foe, which you can learn more about over time by playing the game or doing your research, but that you will certainly lose to if you don't know what you're doing. Everything from the design, sounds, and visuals really put you into the world, and you can choose to interact more with the world or just focus on the strategy of how to make the town bow before you. Lots of customization options; the game feels fresh with things being randomized each game. Last but not least, the game is made by an incredible developer who is actively collecting feedback to make the game even better.

Still an absolutely fantastic game all these years later. Even better than the first game, though you should play the first game before this one.
