It's short, but I highly recommend it!

If I had a nickel for every time one of my favorite games was a platformer where squares tried to escape a simulation and I imagined 2 of those square characters as homosexuals, I would have 2 nickels. Weird it happened twice, right?

This game is fun, nothing more, nothing less.
Actually, that's a lie. The story is really interesting and the ending and dlc are the tough as nails platforming i was slightly dreading. Its great, cheap, and an underappreciated.

This review was really long and talked about how the game had issues that would probably be fixed in the future. All of these issues were either fixed, or weren't issues to begin with and I'm just stupid. This games nice and fun, you should probably play it.

its a lot of things.
the reviews of this game are a little worse than i expected, i think this is because its something they didnt expect. my most important note here is that the best way to enjoy this game is through its story. you will hate this game if you look for a fun gun game.
pros:
-amazing story
-mostly funny jokes
-fun run and gun stuff
-meta commentary
-deep meaning at the end
-3 dimensional characters (personality, not design. they're just squares.)
-pleanty of secrets

pros or cons from person to person
-pretty easy
-short, can be finished in 1 to 2 sittings.

cons:
-some levels drag or are easy to get lost in
-only reward for collecting and exploring are easter eggs, currency, and achievements.
-do me a favor and dont get to the top of the house of well well well and talk to the purple rectangle. you'll regret it, its why i said most the jokes are good.
-same thing with dying 10 times, but on a lower level.
-again, very story based. too much dialogue is a very common complaint

alright the story, spoilers obviously.
the game ends... well it doesnt. it loops forever and the protagonist loses every time. theres so much interpretations and theories to craft but the ending can be good or bad based off that. so many twists and confusion seems intentional, but if you want a definitive end you need to look elsewhere.

other notes:
-if you want to speed things up a little, there is a fast forward button, just hidden
-theres little community for this game, which is sad.
-theres this thing where if you delete your save data, you keep every unlockable weapon and ability. i cant decide if this is intentional or not.

so do i recommend this? well it depends on who you are.
if you want a shooty game and thats it, no. dont get this, you'll be bored and disappointed.
if you want a story game with great characters and amazing commentary, yes. 1000 times yes get this game, its pure art and one of my favorite games of all time.
is it worth the money? its 10 dollars at base. i got it for that price and I'd say it was well worth it. but I've seen this game go down to a little as a single dollar, and at that point you might as well.
tldr: this can be the best game youve ever played, or the most boring snoozefest of your life. its all about if you care about the story.

I cried.
I sobbed.
I wept.
