The Good:

The story is great, genuinely felt touched at some points and the humour mostly lands. I was surprised by how long the story was (I put in 16 hours for one playthrough). The gameplay has some cheesy moments but actually has some great moments of emmergent gameplay and a real sense of progression. The characters feel very inspired by the movies in a good way for the most part.

I could not imagine a better soundtrack; there is a mix of both songs and a more formal orchestral OST - similar to the movies. Felt curated and matched the tone of the game really well. Also did not feel limited at all - I don't think I repeated a song more than twice in 16 hours.

The Bad:

Not in any way bad enough to outweigh the positives but the game is not perfect, biggest gripes are the bugs- I had to reset the protagonist about 8 times in the playthrough each time setting me back about 30 seconds to 3 minutes in cutscenes and gameplay. The animations can feel smushed together and discontinuous.

The story had a little bit of pacing issues in my opinion- without getting into spoilers, there were a few moments where I felt a lack of urgency on the Guardian's side.

The movie comparisons - the game sits in a different universe or timeline or something from the movies and, whilst is a pretty easy recommendation whether you watched them or not, it kind of hurts it in 2 main ways - firstly the group seems freshly formed but seems to lack a large shared experience as to why they are together or why these selfish solo acts would be family or sacrifice for each other. I suspect this is like a hurried version of the first movie but I wish they had a large heist fail or jail escape or something to bind them better - or if there was, for it to be made more clear to the player somehow.

Secondly I think it hurts the voice actors - whilst most of the cast in the GotG squad work well, Peter and Rockets' VAs are given the impossible task of immitating very unique famous movie stars, Chris Pratt and Bradley Cooper and I felt like it could be very jarring at some points when they got it slightly wrong - uncanny valley stuff - if you didn't watch the movie you should be fine.

Highly recommend this game at a sale: $15 is a great price for this experience. Pros far outweigh cons.

PS: game experience is far better at a Normal Difficulty setting, higher difficulty will expose some of the underlying simple game mechanics and take you out of the game. Also leave hints on slow.

Feels Star Warsy - Combat feels a little souls at higher difficulties, puzzles are cool and the hints don't make you feel stupid, game is very pretty

Really fun game. Only really playable on some sort of controller setup. Turn on the setting for advanced pitch/yaw control so you can flip your plane upside down. Good replayability.

You feel like spiderman I guess. By that I mean that you feel like you are actually responsible for the actions the character takes and are not just a playing QTEs. Story is decent

It's borderlands you know. Guns feel ok but it has a decent story and lots to do. Very enjoyable to make meta and off-meta builds

battlepass is good again

No servers sucks but playing on northstar client allows for the best titanfall experience possible. Game runs
well and is still fun 6 years on. Also i played a couple hundred console hours before getting a pc.
