O, the Pelican, so smoothly doth he crest,
With angelic wings that glide unlike the rest.
Whose gullet swoops down from the heavens above,
With tranquility unbound and limits thereof.
Whose gizzard holds that of shrimp and cod,
The epitome of beauty, A righteous wind god.
Sent to us now by that of peril and strife
An eternal pilgrim, cast away by life.
Not a soul knows how far he's come,
Nor the distant lands to where he's from.
For there are none who fully know,
This peaceful pelican's greatest foe.
Oh Praise! Pietistic Pelican! For thou art,
The purest of soul, and gent’list of heart.
Godspeed thee bewitching bird amongst men,
Who’s cosmic presence surpasses that of dove and hen.
Fly free thou faultless prophet of the air,
To thee, no other creature can compare.
