Game I wished really worked. Played too long to request a refund.

As of Nov 27/22 the game is unplayable 25 hours in, 5 corrupted save files. Not restarting a 6th time unless this is fixed.

Otherwise it's a great concept, work in progress. Really like the crafting system. It's been said before by other reviewers the deconstruct needs to be set to something that is universal, T, B, H depending on what you want to deconstruct... I've deconstructed a bunch of items I didn't want to.

Work bench, needs to be able to switch from repair to craft and back from the same window.

I didn't think I would enjoy this as much as I am. Looking at a few video's online it looked interesting. Solid game mechanics, good story quests are ok. a little to repetitive. Automechanics and Mystery Meat each play through thus far.

I really wanted this to be good, however it's not.

Overall,
Great graphics, great sound, great concepts for weapon choices and skill trees.
Faction questing, town boards, nice concepts.

Crafting
The crafting is interesting, no specialization, you can craft it all.
The farming... well that fades quickly. at Level 50 I'm farming starter areas because I need to cut down a forest and 100 iron ore to make a few bars of Star metal. And furniture making... OMG... resource black hole.

Economy:
It is horrid, other reviews will cover the gold aspect I wont. I bought my first house and was planning a second, and then I took a few days off. I was grinding solo for the most part, and was in a Company that a sub of the main company on the server. Well I got back to find a that my taxes and repairs changed my mind on buying a second. I guess good thing I had a company and faction discount. I quit at level 53. Sorry I'm not farming a week to pay rent. I do that in real life.

Social
Now that's the game mechanics, now here's the other problem, MMO's are supposed to be social, this is FAR from that, it's pack of toxic players running elite mob runs to get their gear score up. Watch some of the youtubers asking for new members, have to be 60 minimum gear score of 550 blah blah...
There's no following a story line that underlies the game. Any one remember the lead in to Molten Core? then Onyxia that story arc was a long reaching arc. You needed good guilds to achieve that. Guess yoiu know what MMO I p;ayed back in the day.

Conclusion:
TOXIC.

If weren't for 3 things this game would have been my first request for refund:

The modding community, thank you Pippi!

Now, I received Siptah as a gift, and well it's some how nicer, there's an intangible quality that makes it more playable for me. This has gonr from solid maybe to yes. Again if not for modders, this game would be deleted off my drive.

Reach Level 60... 34.9% of players have this achievement.
Explore a Vault... 6.7% of players have this achievement.

Why it was a solid maybe:
Really, I have to keep the fandom page handy because I don't recall what I need to make star metal bars? Here's what the Manual says:
3.7 Crafting
Most of the crafting in the game can be done from the crafting screen, but some items need a special crafting station or machine to be made. Crafting stations require you to manually select and craft each individual item. If a recipe requires a crafting station it will be listed in the Feats menu. These have their own inventories where the crafting is done. Machines need fuel to work, but will continuously make new items and ingredients if there’s fuel to burn

What it doesn't say is good luck, google how find the recipe to craft something.

And Wow the modding community really out did itself, Age of Calamitous, it's like a whole different game now. Dude's Delightful Decor... the list goes on.

Brutal survival is right, old school LOTRO/WOW player.

"Death is only the beginning" comes to mind. Running this solo, the progression is good and steady, yes a lot of farming but that's the genre.

Scenery is breathtaking, great sound track to go with the game.

Interesting concept, but it's lacking the depth that Surviving Mars has. Still too early in development, last update lost me my saved games. The world map, kind of reminds me of games on my cell phone.
