in daily life. In this way, the usage of slang and swearword in interpersonal communication, as well as mass media, has been frequently encountered. In spite of this intensive
use, it cannot be said that it is adequately studied in academic terms.
In this study, it was tried to examine the attitudes about the use of slang and swearword
in daily communication and the factors that push the individuals into the use of slang
and swearword. In this context, quantitative research was conducted on students belonging to universities selected from seven regions of Turkey. According to the results
of the data collected by the survey method, it was concluded that the use of blasphemy
and slang is an indispensable part of daily communication.
