Probably the best horse game on the market right now. A lot has been thinking second time if it is worth it, apparently because the graphics are not realistic and horse animations is not "the most focused on thing".
Why I find this the best is the developers actually focused on the content in the gameplay, which is a lacking part in similar games. Or everything is behind the paywall. In Ranch of Rivershine you buy it once and that's it, you won't get bored quickly and bugs actually gets fixed fast as possible. You don't play this for the realistic look but for it being a good game and for it being super cozy. If you're tired of paywall horse games or lacking content you definitely should try this out. Maybe also first horse game which feels complete? Nothing feels missing.

There is no filtering in the chat so you can just guess

First of all, this DLC is super nice add to the game. I have fully enjoyed it. It does not feel empty or useless. I don't know if I can play "modern" sim families anymore after this lol.

Why negative review? Because it is BUGGY. VERY buggy. It is been 4years out and the worst bugs are still there. I don't know how many times I have needed to restart the game because of bugs or lost hours of progression because I had to immiatedly restart without saving to not make more damage. Worst bugs which definitely SHOULD be fixed and harms your gameplay:

1. After your cow or alpaca is taken away from their barn (you took them away or they died of old age) it is sometimes super hard to get new one in the barn because the Sim refuses to place the purchased animal there. You need to use cheats, restarts, travel somewhere and sometimes do all 3 together to place the barn animal in a barn.

2. If you have kids they sometimes grow at least 3 ages in one birthday. This makes them older/same age than their parents. This happened to all of the children I had in my household so far. Only fix is to restart whole game without saving so unlucky if you played hours without saving between.

3. Very often your Sim gets stuck washing a dog, the timer don't move and the dog wont get clean. So you need to repeatedly wash your dog again and manually check the timer works or your Sim keeps washing the dog forever. This seems so far only being a problem in the Cottage Living map. Very annoying if you have lot to do as farmer and you got multiple dirty dogs.

If these 3 annoying, gameplay harming bugs gets fixed then I can only recommend.

Do you need it? Tbh, no. Eternal Isle (the first DLC of Disney Dreamlight valley) bringed more content, the map was bigger, lot of more resources and furniture. Way more quests too. Storybook vale's map is not even close as big and has less content. BUT!
I enjoy Storybook vale way more. The problem with Eternal Isle is how boring the quests are. Repeating, unnecessary long quests which in the end gives you just headache and is a reason I barely do them when I play the game. Clearly made just to bring more unnecessary hours for the players. Felt like a chore which never just ends and then there is always a new one.
In Storybook Vale the quests has been actually fun and not too long or either repetitive. Gave me back the motivation I lost. The map is super beautiful and magical, not a labyrinth as Eternal Isle (so decorating this map is way easier). The new items you get feels handy and look good (furniture, crafting items, food recipes and critters). Characters they added were good choices. The baby unicorns are probably the cutest thing I have seen for a while.

This is how DLC should be. Not a must for the game but does add new stuff and is fun.

You play it with a friend or with your partner and it's 90% shooting each other for fun and 10% focusing the story

It becomes your personality

PROS:
-So many different items to get in your shop, I can not even make all of them fit in my store
-You can customize everything, your walls, shelves, floor, even the workers fits, _everything_
-Cute animals you can get to your shop! So far rabbits, mice, hamsters, turtles and fishes
-You can hire a lot of people to do things so you don't need to bother to do everything
-Thieves keeps the game interesting too, I don't know why people wants them to get removed. I get it, they can be annoying but I also find it entertaining
-The game is made the way, that even when you hire workers you can not just sit there. There is always something to do
-Cute graphics, reminds me of Sims4
-I have not found a single bug yet

♥♥♥♥:
-I really hate the cage cleaning. They need constant cleaning, maybe between 5mins to 10min. Please make cleaners to be able to clean the cages/terrariums or make new workers who are able to do it. It's annoying if you have over 30cages and all needs cleaning fast, or otherwise none buys the animals
-More animals are most likely to come in the future, but I would like to see at least gerbills and some kind of lizards and birds.


The game surprised me competely positive, and thinking more ♥♥♥♥ would be just forcing to put something negative. It is simply a good game overall and I can see the devs worked hard for this.

Good game

It really brings more content to the game. The new area is huge, a lot more plants, food resources, materials and animals. But it is not necessary DLC to continue playing as many players seems to think. It's just a huge bonus and I recommend specially if your valley has actually nothing to do anymore.

Only big minus is that I thought it would be same map as the valley. You can fast travel to the Island of Rift in time but you can't fast travel back. It's sometimes very annoying that you can not make quick visit in the Island because you need to run 2 different loading screens to get back the valley. It's frustrating after time.
