POSITIVE BUT DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Keeping it short and sweet. There is no value to this game besides a unique dub option for the character voices.
Game has an expanded version with all the content in more that is actually played by people with XRD REV 2. Get that instead.

This game had its moments but is completely mediocre as a fighting game despite some glimmers of interesting idea. It never strived to be more then a button masher.

However, I will leave a negative review because I hope the good folks who make this game understand the importance of GAME PRESERVATION.

There is DLC content for this game that was on digital stores only, essentially making them inaccessible forever. That's NOT okay and more companies should value preserving art.

THUMBS UP BUT CAN'T RECOMMEND THE GAME AS A BETTER VERSION EXISTS!

Months ago I would have written a comprehensive review but there is no value to purchasing this game anymore over its sequel, Rising, which expands upon the gameplay, graphics, progression, and content significantly despite using the same assets.

The only thing this game offers is RPG mode which is the only thing that got worse in Rising and it's one of the better single player fighting game modes.

Other than that, the short and sweet of it is that this game has a better more expanded version of it out there. There's no reason to purchase this aside from single player content.

Review subject to change but this is exceptionally minimal additions for 50 dollars. Online has rollback I guess and there's some fluff like new mechanics but this games has three new characters, one of whom is locked and is a season pass bonus unlock (he is easily unlockable in game however).

This is not really earning that 50 dollar price tag considering the old game is 25$ and has similar content.

Some tonal aspects of the game are worse. The UI is way too clean and generic rather than dark and mysterious like the old game.

Can't recommend for a casual gamer. Can recommend for a hardcore fighting game fan but only on sale.

This game has some creative ideas for the genre. A cool guard cancel mechanic, a burst/install mode, multiple fighting styles, and other neat stuff. It plays well and has a unique flow. It has a depth and is a competent fighter. This game's strength is that it defines itself mechanically and can cater to a niche in that regard. You will not see this mechanics in other fighters on the market.

However, the game does not feel very good to play. Hit effects just don't have much of an impact. The stage backgrounds and animation have been done better by other fighters at similar price points. An awful decision was made for the few new characters in this edition to be 3d models instead of sprites. Character designs are very strong though.

In short, the game feels cheap and the sprite based animation is severely outclassed when this game shares a storefront with the likes of other sprite based games like Under Night or Blazblue. Hit effects and doing combos do not feel as satisfying as they should.

Oh yeah, online is dead and requires matching via discord. No rollback either.

This is of no fault of the developers. This series should continue and I want to see more fighting games with creative mechanics like this game. I recommend this game to the hardcore fighting game fan thirsting for more and nobody else.

This is a very difficult fg to recommend as there is nothing WRONG with it. It's just not worth 40$. I WILL recommend this to hardcore fighting game fans who want something to mess around with but only that demographic.

This game is a solid fighter but nothing more. It is slow and very basic mechanically, although it still has a high skill ceiling. There is just nothing here that I haven't seen done better in other fighters. The game is in desperate need of a unique defining mechanic. It lacks sauce.

That said, any indie fighter is worth my respect for trying and worth my time because any fighting game is good. The game is balanced, deep, and playable. Just don't expect anything crazy amazing compared to other fighters on the roster.

An anime fighter with a lot of flash and a strong emphasis on movement. Characters can jump high and just fly across the screen at you. Probably the fastest fighter on the market right now.

I do feel this game is not a true successor to the previous game, Actress Again, as it lost some of the horror elements in its tone and streamlined/simplified some mechanics. However, it is a riot in its own right and still very deep. Also, I should note all DLC for this game is free.

Highly reccomend (just use the second option for rapid beat to avoid building bad habits)

An amazing game ruined by the company being largely owned by assets associated with the crown prince of Saudi Arabia. Pity.

This was before Guilty Gear simplified itself for casual audiences.

If you are a Strive player, prepare for something familiar but twice as deep and a VERY different fighting system.

This is a stylish approachable anime fighter with an insane amount of mechanics and a defining feature of unique character gimmicks. Every character is playing by a different set of rules and its amazing. One of the most tightly crafted fighters ever made and I wish Arc System could continue this style.

An incredibly complex yet difficult fighting game, among some of the deepest in the genre. If you are willing to tolerate some difficult execution for a modern fighter you are greeted with some of the most exciting and creative character gimmicks. Every character is based off of a wacky concept. You have characters that steal meter, character that push you around with wind, characters that use health gain as a resource, characters that can leave detonating fields of energy after normals, you get the picture.

They do not make fighting games like this anymore.
