I used to say that Destiny was my all-time favorite game. Then I played this, and my whole mindset changed. The music is amazing, The character building is actually realistic and believable, for me that is. Niko is freakin adorable! *SPOILERS AHEAD* The fourth wall breaks aren't there to be there, it's actually a very good storytelling device. And used sparingly, but still enough to be useful. The art style is very distinctly "Oneshot". And even though Niko is hailed as this great savior Messiah, they still need you, the player, or whatever you have your users folder set to. They tell you about their dreams, even though you can see little snippets of them already. You get to build an actual relationship with Niko. One unlike any that I've ever seen. As I said earlier, even though they're hailed as the savior. Niko is still just a kid, and you can see this very clearly in the late game where Niko breaks down crying, just because they had some pancakes that reminded them of their mom. And Niko says in that instance that their favorite food is pancakes, but specifically the ones "Mama" makes. This honestly had me in tears. But in the end we, meaning you and Niko together, have to make a choice of how the story ends, whether it be happy or sad. Heck, it might even be both. And that's just for the main game's ending.

Here's the best part! It doesn't end there. Nope! Not even close. Because there's still more to go after the main game's ending. The Solstice Update.. In this update you get put back at the very beginning, buuuuuut... Niko remembers you, but doesn't know why yet. The Solstice update takes you to a certain point in the normal story end then just says, "you know what?" *MORE SPOILERS* "Let's make this entire update a massive fourth wall break" And. it. is. SPECTACULAR!! The story progresses with little hints at the original playthrough, calling it the "Original world" and things like that. until the huge reveal at the very end, which I won't mention here because everyone should experience it for themselves at least once. Let's just say that you end up "Taming" your own computer in a sense of twisted and beautiful fourth wall breaks. you'll get to hear a lot of the word "Taming" btw, so get used to it. But thankfully it is never shoved down your throat, it's actually not even explained in the original game. It get's explained at the end of the Solstice Update. But man the payoff, for me at least, was huge! Knowing that we, Niko and Player, effectively saved the world, and saved Niko and helped them get home to their Mama all at the same time, was incredible. But at this point, Niko and Player had built up this fairly strong bond that, it actually hurt Niko to leave us, and me too if I'm being honest here. I won't spoil the last line said, cause that one is special and should be experienced on your own.

So, do I like Oneshot more than Destiny. Short answer, yes. Absolutely yes. But because of the nature of this game and the nature of Destiny, I will always have more hours in Destiny than Oneshot. Even though I hold Oneshot closer to my heart than Destiny. And the long answer, well. That's for another time. Thank you for reading <3

TL:DR I fell in love with a pixel game and rated it 10/10
