On February 21, 1945, while supporting the US invasion of Iwo Jima in the Pacific, the US aircraft carrier USS Saratoga (CV-3) was struck by a kamikaze aircraft piloted by Corporal Amaba Tokamu, resulting in 123 dead and 192 wounded. Forever loyal to the Emperor Showa and the Bushido code, he died honourably as a son of Japan, shouting 'アンバタブロー!!!' (Ambatublow) as his last words over radio comms.
