Spectacular
However it's closer to Uncharted than is it from a proper souls-like, so hardcore souls fans could be disappointed

tldr : Great game, very challenging

What a great souls-like.
Lies of P makes use of the most interesting mechanics from its competitors, like weapon durability, perfect parrying, and more, in an understandable and relevant way.
The level design is clear, the enemies are challenging, and the amount of weapons offers a wide range of options.

Now, on difficulty:
Lies of P is difficult, and is a lot about finding the right timings. The majority of bosses and enemies have delayed attacks, which I never knew was a problem until I saw the amount of salt on Reddit. Parrying is tight, much more unforgiving than in Sekiro, and you'll have to learn to read each boss carefuly if you want to gitgud.

But I think this is really worth it. The setting is very original, and the narration is flawless. The atmosphere is crafted through lots of details that, altogether, make Lies of P's world come alive.

Excellent game. A very polished and dynamic mix of mechanics from Magic, Hearthstone, Slay the Spire and more.
The art style is gorgeous, if you like pixel art.
I only recommand to put the combat speed to x2 to really enjoy the dopamine rush.

Good fun, but a bit repetitive at some point.
One could expect more content, but overall it's a fun retro shooter.

A very dedicated remaster of the titles that made the legend. The feeling is just perfect : this is the mac'n cheese of video games. And this comes from someone who has played THPS3 for hundred of hours on the PS2.

Aged like wine.
Straight to the point mechanics, very rewarding fights, and a great rythm.

REFUNDED - I am SO disappointed, as I really wanted to like this game. To this day, I still stand by my original thought : it looks stunning, and combat is very interesting. I have to say, it really bugs me a lot that it is so boring, because whenever I see a screenshot of the game I want to try it again.

But the world of Octopath Traveler is so poor it's unbelievable. The characters are incredibly bland : who in 2022 would enjoy playing as the brave knight in exile, the dumb but cute merchant girl, or the dark emo student ?

Worse than that : the dialogue made me question the developpers age, as they seem to be taken from a 90s kids TV Show. You will basically always find the same three themes : valor, friendship and good versus bad. I won't even talk about how the characters are introduced like it's the Pokémon anime, with absolutely artifical climaxes. I actally ended up thinking that the dialogue were so empty that the game would feel better without them.

Anyway, my point is : this game had a lot of potential, but in its current state it should only appeal to people who find interest in sub-average Japanese stories. Anyone who has enough taste to dislike cliché characters and manicheist stories will see how empty Octopath Traveler is.
