I will shout this game's superiority from the rooftops. Everyone should own this game, and play it. The (as of writing) 75.6% of people who own the game and haven't beaten it... Shame on you and your lineage.

This game is a fantastic murder-mystery story with twists and turns all over! Your turn to die gives an experience I think some people may desire after reading something like Danganronpa, where the tone in that is quite light often, be it on purpose or by virtue of the characters in the game.

In contrast, the characters in Your Turn to Die feel human. Almost too human. Their goals make sense, and their actions never are out of character, everything makes sense, and even though lies do happen, the game never has the "Lie for the sake of a lie." Every character has an angle, and these are thoroughly explored.

The game also delves into some other aspects of a death game, the trauma. The actions people are forced to take in regards to their or others lives. And the game does not shy away form these moments. It forces you to accept the reality of what YOU, the player, have done. Things are not forgotten nor are they left alone.

This is all elevated when you combine the music of the game. No soundtrack is out of place, and when the game really wants to ramp up the tension, it comes out swinging with electronic beats that fit the mood perfectly, the game would not be the same without the music.

And lastly, the art, at first it was a bit jarring, and it took some time to get used to. But the in-depth character models are very detailed and you can see the individuality of each character. The facial expressions they have and the range they show them are immense. And you can really feel the emotions too, the way they look is amazing, and the lower bit graphics grew on me over time.

The only downside that I've had was the so called "Red Room". When you get there, there is no shame in looking up the guide to the puzzle. It's by far the hardest, and not because of the difficulty of the puzzle, it sort of felt like madman logic for a good chunk of it, but no other puzzle is like this and the puzzle is not too long. And the smallest error I found is translation was sometimes the name "Joe" would be spelled the Japanese "Jou".

Also, a warning, the game is not yet complete! Chapter 3, the final chapter, is still being made!

Highly recommended game, and if the 15 buck price tag puts you off? The game is free! You can get it officially for free on the translators website with the express permission of the original author Nankidai. However the steam edition has some extra goodies for purchase.
