Don't listen to the community gen 1 is a sci fi RPG game about a simulation while gen 2 is about a high tech ship that was taken over by rockwell gen 1 and gen 2 both gives a ton of freedom like amazing character customization and you can even customize difficulty and a lot more they are very story driven and have a lot of detail the games has amazing graphics gen 2 has better graphics although the grass still could use some work gen 1 has environmental effects like whirlpools blizzards volcanic eruptions and more but gen 2 has a hyper drive mechanic which is insane it has much more and it has a weight mechanic and much more if you like story rich games I recommend gen 1 and gen 2 both
