It is like playing an AC game but you play the game because you want to gouge your eyes out rather than have fun. The story is good and for that reason I read the book about 5 years ago so I could experience it without all the jankiness and repetitiveness which will be a source of endless frustration throughout your playthrough. It's still a cool piece of gaming history though and worth playing at least once, but I have no desire to put myself through the ordeal of fighting with my own controls more than the enemies a second time.

After Trial of Allegiance I was worried about the quality of future content for HOI4, but I really think this is one of the best DLCs Paradox has ever made. The special projects are really cool and make research a lot more engaging, and it's a lot of fun to create a timeline where the Wunderwaffe actually work.

This game sucks, but I absolutely love it. It's just so peak. 10/10 John Darksoul approved 👍
