Blue shift is the Half-life game I've read more negative reviews about than any other official Half-life game. But to be honest, I think it's not that bad. Sure, it doesn't feature anything very new (compared to opposing force), but it's still enjoyable. Though the "tunnel" part in Xen reminds me heavily of the vent-labyrinth in the main Half-life, and is just as annoying. I've heard some people complain about the section where you escort Dr.Rosenberg, but I don't think it's that bad. It's pretty short after all. I also like all the moments where you can spot Gordon Freeman along his adventure as well. But, just like with the original Half-life, some puzzles are very difficult to solve, and sometimes require a guide (yes, I'm talking to you coolant pit).

To conclude, I feel this game get's a lot more hate than it deserves. Sure, it doesn't bring much new to the table, but that's about it.
If you liked the original Half-life, you will most likely like this one as well!

Wish you could create servers with bots. That way you don't have to join some random server with 2 other people that plays earrape mario death sounds everytime someone dies. At least it comes for free with Half-life 2: episode one.

Half-life: source. Half-life 1 but with some noticable differences.

One of the first things i noticed was the menu screen. In the original goldsrc version, the menu is just a still image. In the source version, it's an area with people walking around. Just like in any other source game. The chapter selection is also a thing in this, while in the goldsrc you need to use console commands.

The lighting is very broken in this. Areas that had great lighting in the goldsrc version are now just overly bright, and the flashlight is almost useless.

The MP5 is also different from the goldsrc version. It has a slight up and down shake, which greatly reduces accuracy.

Certain effects, like blood splatter, explosions and water just doesn't fit in this. When low-res walls get covered in higher-res blood, it just doesn't look right. Same applies to water and explosions.

During the waste disposal chapter (i think that's what it's called), the part with the conveyor belts, the game completely breaks and streches textures in a way that you can't see anything, and it hurts your eyes.

Other noticeable bugs:
-A scientist floating above his chair in the beginning
-The chopper during the opening is floating as well
-To destroy a chopper, you need to aim under it
-Houndeyes hitbox is lowered to their legs

Conclusion: only buy this if it's on sale and you wan't the Gmod stuff. If you want the story, buy the Goldsrc version instead.

The classic half-life, one of the best games out there.

I have been waiting for some time to jump into this game, and i wasn't dissappointed. The only thing i am not 100% satisfied with is the puzzles. Some of them were so hard i had to look up a guide, and some of them doesn't even tell you what to do. The only other thing i am a little annoyed at is that the game likes to depleet my HP, not give me any sort of health, and then throw me into a huge arena filled with marines and a tank. Away from that though, it's a pretty good game.

Good old Half-life 2... Where do i start..

Half-life 2 is a classic. Even though i wasn't born until a year after it's release, and didn't discover it until a few months ago, It is clear how big impact this game had on the gaming industry (Half-life 1 would be more fitting for this i guess). The graphics are from 2004, but still looks pretty realistic. You can interact with a lot of stuff, from lockers in a train station to trash laying on the side of a road. The game has some very good songs as well, such as "Lambda core" and "Something secret steers us" (with the latter one being my favourite).
I'm not exactly a good reviewer, but i hope this review was good enough.

9/10

This is an amazing game. The game might be made by only one person, but it definetly shows that the developer did their best. Though the developer has abandoned the game, the game won't get boring (at least for me) because there is a workshop. Every game with a steam workshop and an ability to create custom levels/gamemodes is amazing in my opinion. The game has remained cheap, and it's worth every penny (or krone, for me).

Team fortress 2 is a timeless masterpiece. The artstyle, the gameplay, and much much more make this game truly amazing. The fact that it has been going strong since 2007, is just incredible. I myself has put a lot of hours into the game (mainly playing as the scout), and cant stop playing. My friends might call TF2 "boring", but thats because they dont even want to try it. To end this review i give this game a big thumbs up.

Now that it's been over a year since I left a review on this game, I think it's time I rewrite it now that I have a lot more experience with it.

First of all, this game is amazing. The fact that it was made by two people (technically three) is just incredible. You can kill people. But in many different ways. They take damage which remains visible in the correct spots, they can be kicked off high areas and take falling damage, or they can be dismembered in almost infinite ways. Every day you'll find a new way to kill an enemy.

Second, you have the gamemodes. The game features multiple modes, such as the classic scenarios, arena, level editor, and the almighty Beneath. The scenarios is the classic mode, where you can play in a Bar, Disco, Prison, Pirate Cove, and the new Saloon. Arena puts you up against waves of enemies in an arena, and it gets progressively harder. Level editor is one of the things which has kept the game alive to this day, making it a very big part of the game. This is where you can create areas not thought of before, and release them for the world to see. However, the level editor isn't entirely flawless, as it tends to glitch out a time or two, especially when you go over certain limits, and end up breaking the game to create a good level. And the workshop is nowhere near as good as it could be, due to the fact that some good levels sometimes doesn't reach the attention they deserve, and levels where the creator barely put any effort in gets the top page.

Beneath itself feels like a while another game, and adds so much more to PTTR. It has a story which links in with the classic scenarios, many new enemy types, and so much more. You can buy upgrades, find secrets, explore new areas, and fight some very interesting bosses. However it's development wasn't PTTR's brightest time, and it took years to make. But now that it's out, the devs are back to creating content for the entire game.

All in all, this game is amazing, and if you have enough to buy it, you don't have an excuse to not try it out.

Old review:

I think paint the town red is a pretty good game, with good fighting system and a decent AI. The level editor is mostly easy to use, but can be a little buggy if filled with too many items. The AI works pretty good, as long as you know how it works. I will reccomend it if you like blood and gore, but arent too dependent on the graphics.
