Do you guys like good stories? I like good stories.

I love to write a lot, and i have a big appreciation for writing and storytelling as a whole, especially in video games. I know a lot of people would sacrifice a good story for good game-play in a video game, but i'm kinda the opposite. Obviously the best games out there are the ones that have both good game-play and good stories, but as long as the game is mostly functional, I tend give it a pass as long as its written well. This doesn't apply to EVERY game out there of course. I don't play Terraria or Deep Rock Galactic or Team Fortress 2 for the amazing plots and moving character arcs, and sometimes a games story doesn't justify its awful game play. But games with stories that have a deeper amount thought put into them are some of my favorite.

Red Dead Redemption 2, Lisa: The Painful, The Fallout Franchise, Cyberpunk 2077, Baldurs Gate 3, Telltales The Walking Dead, Disco Elysium, and more are all games that inspired me and taught me lessons in writing in some regard. I know it'd probably be better if i just took writing classes, but i think its neat that video games have taught me a lot about writing good stories too.

I like to play video games with good stories over watching a movie or reading a book because it feels like getting to experience the story with the characters. Their joy, their triumph, their sadness, their loss, their greed, their hatred, and so on are all things I'm actively engaging in, and a story that you can engage with really puts you in the shoes of the characters. It's wonderful getting to play a part in their story and it makes you care for the characters much more. It's quite beautiful.
