Early Access Review
The game feels incomplete and barebones right now.
Maybe after 1.0 it'll change. But as the things as they are right now, i would not recommend the game to anyone unless they are looking for something specific.

First of all. there is no personal progression/reward system. for a game that requires your investment, there is nothing personal reward that the game gives you. remember the french invasion? it fizzled out because there is nothing in place that helps the player be personally invested in the game.

Second. combat is lacking or not intuitive, handling and movement in this game just feels weird, maybe its because of a lack of a proper tutorial but i digress.

Third. there is a certain way that others get a advantage, is is through tweaking the resolution, this advantage should never exists in the first place. this just tells me that the developers never though about balancing the technical aspect of the game.

Fourth. doing the logistics part of the game is just plain boring, you literally just hammer away at a object to get scrap. that is not a fun game play, if you have no investment in the game then there is no personal reason for you to scrap anyway.

Fifth. for a game that revolves around teamwork, there seems to be no in game tools that helps in the management of the teamwork, there is no way to designate objectives aside from map posts, this leads to people just doing whatever they want during battle.

World of Tanks – A Veteran’s Review (Since 2014)

Note: My Steam playtime may appear low, but I’ve been playing since 2014 through the Wargaming client. Also, English is not my first language, so please excuse any grammar issues.

Claims from the Steam Trailer – My Thoughts

“Realistic Tank Models” – This is mostly incorrect or misleading. While the visual models of tanks are fairly accurate, the armor models often don’t match. For example, the M4A3E8 (M4A3(76)W HVSS) has a visible weak spot in the front machine gun port in real life, but in the game, that weak spot doesn’t exist. This breaks immersion and realism. Rating: Negative

“Dozens of Maps” – Yes, the game has a lot of maps. However, in my opinion, most of them are poorly designed. They tend to be very corridor-like, forcing players into specific gameplay styles. While it’s normal for developers to guide player behavior through map design, I wish there was more freedom and variety. Rating: Neutral

“Work Together as a Team” – This one is a bit controversial. While the game encourages teamwork, the reward system heavily favors individual performance. This creates a conflict of interest—some players may camp for damage instead of helping the team win. The developers can’t control player behavior, but the system doesn’t do much to promote real teamwork either. Rating: Neutral

Veteran Insights – What You Should Know

The Game Is Heavily Pay-to-Win – Premium tanks are often better than their tech tree (free) counterparts. They perform better and earn more rewards per match. This wasn’t always the case—older premium tanks used to be weaker but more profitable. Now, newer premium tanks are simply stronger, and power creep is a serious issue.

Pay More to Be Better – Upgrading your tank is part of the game, but there are also premium ammo types (formerly called gold rounds). These rounds are more expensive but offer better performance, especially higher penetration. Players with premium tanks can afford to use them more often, making armor almost useless in many cases. This makes the game feel unfair for non-paying players.

The Vision System Is Flawed – The maximum spotting range is capped at 445 meters. Any extra view range only reduces enemy camouflage effectiveness. On the flip side, players can stack camouflage and remain invisible even when fully exposed. This system is confusing and often feels broken. It needs a serious rework.

Final Verdict

There are many more issues I could talk about, but these are the ones that stand out the most. World of Tanks has a solid foundation, but it’s been dragged down by monetization, balance problems, and outdated mechanics.

My recommendation: Save yourself the time and frustration. Play something else.
