Currently, I cannot recommend the game. The game is filled with bugs and I've lost great runs to a bug in which I could see other players and enemies moving, but there were no animations and I couldn't really interact with anything. Also, the game currently lacks differing paths which is unfortunate. I'm hoping that when the game exits early access, the majority of the bugs will be fixed and I know they are planning to add much more content. I'm excited for whats to come, and I really did have fun while playing, but that doesn't change the fact that I would not currently recommend the game. I'm hoping that when it exits early access, I can change my review to a positive one and have plenty of fun in this game!

Amazing game, absolute 10/10. My favourite update was the sex update.

Risk of Rain 2 is one of the best Rougelikes I've ever played. I'm a fan of the Rougelike genre, and I've played great games like Hades and Deadcells, but Risk of Rain 2 is a masterpiece.

TL;DR The game has fun characters, unique items, amazing lore, and Gameplay that is highly enjoyable.

The characters are fun, and all are viable. Even the worst characters can still be used, and are only the worse because the other characters are just better, not that they're unusable. I've tried out most characters (some just aren't my type) and I've enjoyed them all as they're very different. Lets take 2 characters, Huntress and Engineer. Huntress is a medium range archer that has high DPS and low Hp - a glass canon. She runs around, dodging enemies and letting her Auto-aim bow kill them. The Engineer has 2 turrets that he can place down. The turrets shred enemies, inheriting the items the Engineer has, whilst the Engineer himself tries his best not to die. There's not like, 100 characters, but each are different and fun enough to get the same amount of value.

And the items are probably the most unique items I've ever seen. Items don't just "increase damage by x%", but instead have different effects like the crowbar, which does 75% extra damage when the enemy is above 90% HP. This makes it great for one-shotting enemies with high burst damage characters. Yes there's some more generic items like Double Damage but Half HP, yet the whole item pool combined makes Risk of Rain 2 different from many other games.

Now, lets talk about the art because it's amazing. It isn't super realistic, but it's looks beautiful. From the snowy lands of Siphoned Forest to the blazing desert of Abandoned Aqueduct and the floating islands in Sky Meadows. Each area feels unique and interesting, and if you gave me a screenshot of any area I could tell you which one it was instantly. The art direction and choice of 3D, instead of the 2D Pixel art Risk of Rain took, makes this game a joy to look at.

Lets talk about the lore. I love when games provide good backstory to the world you are in and explain whats going on, which Risk of Rain 2 does amazingly. The small bits of text from each item, area, and survivor's entry in the logbook allows you to put the pieces together to unravel a story of brotherhood, betrayal, and revenge. I loved learning about the lore, who the characters are, why they're there, and all the little secrets in this game.

Finally, the Gameplay. The cast of characters and large selection of items makes each run feel unique from one another. Each character has their own abilities, which some have alternate versions of said abilities. These abilities define the character, with Huntress's teleport allowing her to dodge a heavy blow/quickly disengage, or the Railgunner's (DLC, which you should also get!!) Concussive mines that at first seem useless until you realize you can boost yourself with them to higher places or to gain speed. The enemies all have 1 attack, with bosses having about 3, which makes them easy to dodge after learning the attack. In each stage you have to decide to either continue killing enemies that spawn around sometimes to keep opening chests with the gold you gain, or starting the "Teleporter Event", which summons a boss and once completed lets you move onto the next stage, with no more enemies spawning on that stage after the Teleporter Event. The difficulty is always increasing, so the longer you spend on a stage the harder the game will be, but the more powerful you'll become, making you have to decide whether to continue looting or start the Teleporter Event and have a limited amount of gold for the rest of the stage.

Risk of Rain 2 is one of my favourite games, and deserves all the love and recognition it's gotten. If you enjoy Roguelikes, or are interested in trying them, Risk of Rain 2 is a must buy. If you have friends, you can also play with them (up to 4), which makes it super fun. The only complaint that I have is that it can occasionally feel unfair when I die to something stupid or lose a good run, but thats the fun of a rouguelike, right? I hope my review has convinced you to get Risk of Rain 2, and I hope you enjoy it if you do!

B U G S GO BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR also like this game is so good omg aaaa its so fun your first playthrough to get to the normal ending takes from 20h to 100h, no cap. The lore is also so fun and the movement is super fun plus u can change your charms to fit your playstyle. I cant wait for silk song as its going to be hk 2.0 so if you love hk as much as i do silk song will be great. Please play hk, its so fun with all the content but it can get pretty hard. Good luck :)
