Just too much d tier content. I think i speak for anyone that enjoys video games when i say that i would much rather play in a swimming pool than an ocean that is 2 inches deep. Everything in this game feels like the devs chose to do the bare minimum when fleshing out every thing. The map 'exploration' is just opening the map, selecting a glowing orb, staring at the map on your compass and head directly to it.

I remember hearing something about being able to customise what options are on and off for the HUD, but i was dissapointed when the gameplay and quests do not give you enough information to know what to do next. "Find x" is not a good enough description for players who do not play with the hud at all but if the hud is on you already know exactly where to go since the game just shows you on the map, compass and pointers making it over bearing. After returning to AC after playing some souls games(hollow knight, DS3 and Elden Ring), I have taken a liking to minimalist HUDs. I am playing through AC unity and I am most of the way through with very little hiccups while not playing with any HUD at all besides quest descriptions on the side of the screen. Unfortunately, Valhalla is just too big and open and vague to play like this, forcing players to become compass zombies and not look around to enjoy the beautiful landscape that clearly had a lot of work put into it. If the orbs weren't present atleast I would feel excited exploring the old ruins and small villages but since I already know if there is armour there or not etc it isn't exploration at all.
So yes, the HUD can be turned off completely but it makes the game unplayable.

Although I do like the dream worlds(in the base game and DLC), i did not like that they all appeared at the beginning of the game as soon as you arrive in Raventhorpe. It felt weird when Eivor didn't know what was going on in the last couple main story quests with the isu simulation. At this point I had at least checked out 2 of the dream worlds(Asgard and svartilheim part 1) so it made me feel like I did things out of order (which was not up to the player because it wasn't explained very clearly what "resting by the old tree" meant so the player will almost definitely check it out if they don't already know what that does). I also found the dream areas themselves to be lacklustre in terms of character. I get that Eivor is a stand in for Odin(the high one) but it was strange to me that you don't gain any powers, your just regular old Eivor chilling in THE Asgard. At least have some cool effects when you regenerate health or ran fast or SOMETHING. It just felt out of place to be there(basically a regular human). Also the powers you do get in Dawn of Ragnarok don't even carry over to the other dream world, not to mention the powers themselves are lame and uninspired.

I would personally prefer if Eivor was only one gender. I don't mind which, but just having one would help with marketing and stuff(i chose male because i thought that was canon since ALL of the steam screenshots and the trailer here have male Eivor, however I heard that female Eivor is the real canon). At least if there was only one gender there wouldn't be bugs like side characters using the wrong pronouns for your character.

Game was definitely too easy fundamentally. Your character has too many overpowered mechanics and this only got worse the further into the skill tree I went. Also it felt unnecessary to get new gear or even level up old gear since even the first set of armour and weapons is strong enough. Not to mention that gear and skills should be the biggest focus of an RPG(just search up Witcher 3 best build and you will see that there is so much variety in different ways from the start to the endgame there).

I do however, disagree when people say that this is a "bad assassins creed game". Although I somewhat agree that the title is just there for branding, I would say that this is just a flat out bad game. The stealth and assassin side of things is non-existent, the RPG aspects are ruined and borderline unnecessary due to the difficulty being baby friendly, the story just isn't that interesting after you first move to Raventhorpe(no real motive besides ally with your immediate neighbour but past that it doesn't matter) and the 'exploration' is a handheld event where the devs peel back your eyelids and glue your eyes to the compass while you mark off a non-rewarding checklist.

If you want an RPG, play The Witcher 3. If you want an assassin game, play AC Syndicate or Unity. If you want both, play AC Origins. Just don't enable Ubisoft to make a sequel to Valhalla.

Intuitive and interesting story and gameplay. Engaging combat as always. Lot's of overpowered items(but there always are in any from software game). New mechanics and features like summons allow for new players to the genre to experience the phenomenal game without the need to complain about no difficulty slider while not alienating veteran players who want the "authentic souls experience". The game WANTS you to miss questlines and areas, meaning when you do discover these things they feel much more meaningful than just following a quest marker. This also helps with the organic discovery and replayabilty of the game.

This is what a game should be - a challenge that can be frustrating to the point of quitting, but very rewarding for those that overcome the task of completion. The freedom of the open world is really the toppings on the cake. With exploration completely up to the player, this sets Elden Ring apart from most games and its Dark Soul predecessors. Before I played Elden Ring, The Witcher 3 was my favourite open world game. I really enjoyed the roleplay and immersiveness of the world, helping set it apart from games like Assassins Creed and Shadow of War. However, this immersion PALES in comparison to Elden Ring.

I hope that the impact that Elden Ring has left on the gaming community will make future open world games actually open world and not just marker checkpoint simulator. Unfortunately, I fear that Elden Ring was too ahead of its time and all the games that try to copy it will be missing the soul that caused it's success.

We had to rollback the server after falling off the edge of the map and losing our gear. We found out the hard way that the world is flat

A 5 minute game that I played for 5 hours. Very fun and equally intriguing story with great art and music. Truly just such a good experience to play repetitively.

Easily in my top 3 games of all time and still holds that position even after newest updates. However, in the 1.3 updates it felt like i could choose most classes and not feel under powered but in the most recent update it is not the same(at least in endgame). Go zenith or go home is the real only way to go right now and some equivelent items for the other main classes would be fantastic. Other than that, it feels like perfection.
