The PSN requirement is a bummer, I'd prefer if it wasn't there. The game is really good, however. You feel powerful but not invincible and really lean into being a figure of myth and legends that will be talked about for decades, if not centuries.

Early Access Review
The atmosphere, sounds, and designs are great. The gun play feels a little stiff, but good overall. Some of the models need little tweaks, like the starting shotgun not having the hand in the right spot. However there's one very big issue I have with this game... The sprinting. Not only can you not sprint and strafe, limiting your awareness and maneuverability, you can get stuck on the most abysmally small pieces of terrain.

Running away? Not if that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pebble, small sand hill, or any other reasonably easily traversable inconveniences have anything to say about it. I can forgive the large gravestone that I just walked by with no problems all the sudden having a gravitational pull so I can't get past it while sprinting a lot more than having slight imperfections in my chosen escape path remove my ability to move.

One guy said that it felt like your character acted more like a vehicle than a person... I'd like to add on that it's a vehicle with square ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wheels. Cause a normal vehicle can get over or avoid most potholes, rocks, etc. with no problem. Not these rejected model T's. Every single mild bump or incline that isn't stairs will no doubt stop you dead in your tracks and leave you fruitlessly turning left and right before easing themselves back to full sprint with all the urgency of a panicked sloth as you get shot, get stuck AGAIN, and then die.

This is the real sticking point for me, I was having a lot of fun up until I realized this was a problem. The water doesn't seem to be a big issue, even less so if you've got a squad. I can't comment too much on it however, cause I only ever extracted 2 in my play time. I was just wandering around, and would've gotten more but you can only carry one large item at a time. Suffice to say I'm gonna let it sit for a while longer to see if my main gripe is addressed before trying it again.

I really really really do like this game. It's a treat and played through it twice, however it really does shine most with friends for me. Most RPGs do, most games do. While it's a stellar single player experience I won't be able to do everything I wanted until I can play it again with a friend.

The first game is hands down better than this one. While there's a bit more to actually do in this one it just felt less natural and good, even, to get the vessel going. I even got frustrated with how the ship was layed out at times. Especially the button that auto feeds fuel. There was no tension, besides the innate fear of deep waters.

It's still good just... Not as good as the first game. The first game was a tighter experience with more emotion felt throughout the experience, and while the ending shot is great... The first game doesn't need it to feel complete.

EDF 5 is a complete upgrade from 4.1 in every way that really matters for it. Very fun and much less frustrating in progression. However, the one thing I can whole heartedly say is weaker... Is the rallying of the EDF. In 4.1 it really seemed absolutely hopeless with the EDF on the back foot and literally losing Whale for a bit. 5... Never got the same kind of desperation and hopelessness to permeate the dialogue like 4.1. The voice acting is of the same quality but the script doesn't support it in that kind of way. It's a lot more... "Storm 1 win for us" instead of "Someone's still fighting so we can not give up, continue the fight or die trying". There was also less of a sense of camaraderie as well. In 4.1 you had the air forces coming back to the battle field cause they refused to leave the ground forces, or an aircraft carrier going to pick up Whale after the main airbase got bombarded. In 5 Gone 1 showed up, bless their souls, and that was great or Storm 2 and 3 arriving for Storm 4, but it just... Didn't leave as large of an impact. It is really a rather minor thing but something I think is rather important.

Treatise. Manifesto. [Repeating].

By the way the fence textures in that room don't line up correctly. Also, Manifesto is the correct one. He doesn't say Treatise the same way every time.

An incredible amount of fun. The nemesis system really is one of the greatest things to come to gaming in a long time. I hope other games start utilizing similar systems.

This was one of the most fun and immersive RPG's I've ever played. Just wish the horses could cross rivers and a lot of bushes would stop being rocks.

Don't like it : /
I've tried three separate times to play this game and each time I quit because I just didn't enjoy myself. I tried it when it was just real time with pause and after they added the turn based system. I've used three different classes and races. I just don't like it. I can't figure out what exactly makes this game different from every other CRPG, not all of them on Steam, I've played that just makes it unappealing. The story is Decent. The characters are fine. Mechanics are a bit finicky but nothing I can't adapt to. Leveling up wasn't an issue. Inventory wasn't something I had trouble with, despite my pack rat nature.
Can't figure it out. Nothing makes me hate it just don't like it I guess.

Anyone and everyone calling this a "Masterpiece" is a liar and fraud. It's no masterpiece it's a solid 8/10. A really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ good 8/10 game. It's got a few issues with some level design and properly conveying some information to the player. 3-4 in total so certainly no deal breaker. Other than that I'd say it's worth the two and half hours it takes to complete. Certainly makes you interested in the sequel
