Since I may have to go in a minute, ill type my wisdom here. Then you will want to learn where to skip. (once you get the basics). there are spots where you can skip to get a faster time. Look up "surf utopia world record" on youtube. you can watch a pro. watch how he moves his mouse, and where he jumps.
