Old Gamer Alert❗️
I was born in 1970, so I'm older than the average gamer. I played pc games before there were graphics, on an Xerox 820-2, which was nicknamed the Worm, because Xerox thought it would "eat the Apple". Apple is still here, and I'm the only guy I know who owned a Xerox home computer. Yes its a real thing, here's a wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xerox_820

Around 1980 I also began playing the classic Dungeons & Dragons and a large number of tabletop RPG games, but that's not what we do here on Steam.

Consoles for me, started with an original Atari game system. Again, that's not what we do here on Steam, but for the record I also owned XBox, XBox360, XBoxOne, PS3, Wii, and will consider the 4th or 5th gen consoles especially if they embrace VR.

Back to pc games, I MISS LAN PARTIES!
Having several friends all pile into an apartment, linking up their pcs and playing games like the original DOOM and Duke Nukem were the early days of what you see at the huge conventions today. I think the last game I got to enjoy for a LAN party was StarWars: Jedi Knight Dark Forces #2. I remember that distinctly as the first time I'd seen a guy who brought multiple monitors and had them linked up so he could play with a complete 360 degree view and had virtually no blindside. That was the 1990's.

Online gaming became more popular about then. I played on a lot MUDS and strategy games hosted on early internet Bulletin Board's. AOL hosted the original online Neverwinter Nights, based on the Gold Box Pool of Radiance. Somewhat in chronological order, Ultima Online, Asheron's Call, and Everquest were some of the first MMO.

I started a lot of Beta Testing in the early 2000's and had early access to Dark Age of Camelot, Asheron's Call 2, Lineage 2, a few indi, then Rift and Star Trek Online, and lastly was Elder Scrolls Online. I subscribed to a few magazines and received a lot of free demo cds, and tried hundreds of games.

Other MMO's I should mention are Star Wars Galaxies, which I played right up till the Space Combat Expansion was released, and then I found myself with an out of date pc. Sad and lost, I was not in Beta, but started World of Warcraft just 1 month after release. Reuniting with some of my NWN-DAOC friends, I tried out Lord of The Rings Online & Warhammer Age of Reckoning.

I've semi active Free-2-Play characters on LOTRO, SWTOR and a Lifetime subscription of STO.

Oh, not just MMO's, I've played more games than I can list. I look around the room and realize I've more games than music cds. How about I say I'm a lifetime fan of Sid Meiers, Civilization, Elder Scrolls (ARENA to SKYRIM!) Star Trek, Star Wars, and a lot more. My most recent games are survival based. Ark & DayZ are two superb titles, and I have become a big fan of Bohemia Studios.
