4作为剧情系列巅峰之作，极其抓耳的开场op直接奠定了整部作品灰色悲剧的基调，后苏联时代东欧人的彷徨与无助，后911时代美国人的神经质与排外，塑造了自由城的悲剧故事，无论游戏中Niko如何选择，都只是大时代下的牺牲品罢了。
