The game itself, as in - concept, realization and graphics - is good and fun to play
The handling of it by developers is not
Armello is basically abandoned by now. Bugs that are still in the game are left unfixed, no new characters are added, there are no map variations (as in - in the form of the map itself) and generation of the map composition can get really unfair - last time I played, I got a setup with 5 bogs right in front of my homelands, there are established meta-combos that force you to either play specific characters with specific loadouts or get steamrolled by everyone else (and devs won't do anything about it), there is a festering idlebot infestation going on, etc.
If you're buying this game to play with established circle of friends - wait for a sale and go ahead, you'll have your fun.
If you're buying this game thinking you'll play online by joining public games - STOP. Don't waste your money. Not even if it is on sale. Believe me, it is NOT worth the pain.

...so, the total disaster of the time-sink patch is behind us, so I'm editing my review. I wouldn't exactly "recommend" you to buy this game, but Steam only has "yes" and "no" options for reviews, and well, devs *did* fix their mess, so negative score is no longer deserved.
Still, proceed with caution. The game is a lot of fun, more so if you like building elaborate bases, as the building system is probably the most solid part of the game. But the developers are a rather stubborn folk, and who knows... next time they decide to make something stupid, there might not be enough reviewers around to snap them out of it

Charming characters, enthraling economics, riveting rivalry and many other enjoyable endeavours that may or may not have matching first letters. Recommended to anyone who'd love some soulful story with a pitch of wondorous worldbuilding on the side

A lot of potential, that sometimes gets wasted on tedium. Don't buy if you aren't a fan of battling the same three monsters 87% of your playtime.

Base management mixed with dungeon crawler with a cute homeley style to gloss it all over.

Ok, where do I even start...
HOLY JAM THAT WAS ONE HECK OF A RIDE. A vibrant world full of thoughtful details, colorful personalities and a story that resembles a ball of yarn after it was given to a bunch of playfull kittens, so convoluted and bizare, yet so intriguing at the same time you can't help but dive in headfirst, and all that neatly wrapped in gorgeous art and animation. Can't wait to see what chapter 3 would reveal.

If you like reading good stories - you need to give this one a go. You'll love it, I promise.

So many years on, this game still receives updates. A true labor of love, in the purest sense of the word. If you haven't played it yet - buy it. You need it, trust me.
